Peaceful spot. Very sticky mud provided great holding. Pick your side according to the wind direction. We were on the NW side and had NW winds 20-30. There is a nearby boat ramp for dog walks. We had 2 bars of AT&T and Verizon voice and data. There are a few fish stakes in this area so keep a look out for them.

Great ICW roadstead for winds from the North and Northeast. We entered this anchorage from Green 159 and saw 10 ft depths. Good holding in mud. We had full Verizon and ATT voice and data. No shoreside access for dog walks. Quiet location with beautiful stars.

We swung on the current and not the wind. Great holding through a mild cold front. Decent wind protection is provided by low marshes. This is a very beautiful area with great sunsets, lots of dolphins, and the Milky Way at night. We had 2 bars of T-Mobile LTE, 3-4 bars of AT&T LTE, and 3 bars of Verizon LTE. New floating dock by the boat ramp is great for dog walks but there is no access to shopping on amenities.

The west side of the sound has spotty holding with some patches of rock. Good wind protection from westerlies. There are several beaches to explore and the water is clearer than near town.

The east side of Rock Sound has excellent holding in deep, sticky sand. For good wind protection, you must move around the Sound: near town for prevailing easterly/southeasterly winds, the southern shore near Starved Creek for southerlies, and the western shore for westerlies. Dingies can be landed at Frigate's Restaurant on the north end of town which is a 5-minute walk to the supermarket (one of the best provisioning stops south of Nassau). Propane can be filled at the hardware store next to the supermarket. There is also a liquor store and auto parts store in the same plaza.

On the south side of town, dinghies can land at the old wooden dock near the large white church. From here, it is a quick walk to Dingle's gas station and local restaurants. Dingle's dock is in ruins.

Like the other Governor's Harbour anchorage, holding here is poor with some thin sand over scoured rock. There is decent wind protection from the north and east but none for south and west. Land dinghies on the beach next to the Fish Fry or on the other side of Cupids Cay along the seawall/beach.

There are numerous challenges with anchoring off of Governor's Harbour: the bottom is nearly entirely scoured rock with NO holding. Patches that look like sand are only a few inches of sand over rock. If your draft allows, better holding may be found in the deep sand very near the sea wall, but this shoals very quickly. There are numerous unmarked moorings on the bottom all over the area. There are several unwater cables to avoid. There is good wind protection from the northeast - southwest, and none from the west - northwest. If you have calm winds, and can find any holding at all, then shore access is easy on the beach or on the stairs along the road. Coffee shop, gas station, hardware, restaurants, and Friday Fish Fry all steps away.

Good wind protection from the north, east and southeast. No protection from southwest - west. Holding is mixed with some rock, but there are plenty of sandy patches where holding is good. This is a gorgeous stop on the way along the coast of Eleuthera. The sandbars make amazing exploring at low tide. There is a pretty beach to explore. There is an uncharted cell phone tower at the airport, so service here is excellent. No shore access, no services.

Good protection from north winds only. Good holding in sand and grass. It is a short dinghy ride to town. You can use Pinder's Supermarket dock to tie up your dinghy, or tie it up anywhere along the seawall. Both locations require a degree of climbing at low tide, making it challenging to take a dog to shore. There are two grocery stores in town: Pinders and Food Fair. Be sure to check out the ocean side beach - it is absolutely stunning. Full Aliv and BTC LTE cell signal.

You can anchor on the west, east, or south side of the island depending on the wind direction.
The anchorage on the west side gives direct access to "Pig Island", where friendly pigs reside. This beach is very popular with small boats who come to visit the pigs. Excellent holding in sand.
South side: Excellent holding in sand, access to beach for dog walks.
East side: This is the preferred anchorage and can get quite busy with cruising boats. Excellent holding in sand. We weathered a frontal passage with 35 knots of S, SW, W, and NW wind in squally weather with no issues.
All anchorages: Excellent LTE cell service from Aliv and BTC. It is a 2 mile dinghy ride to services at Spanish Wells.

BTC has 4 bars of 3G with occasional 1 bar of LTE service . You may be able to pick up Wi-Fi from a local restaurant from the mooring field.

Tilloo Cay South is a beautiful spot to relax. Holding is good in sand and grass but check anchor to ensure set. Protected from east winds. The beach is perfect for walks and the sandbars are worth exploring. We always see stingrays, dolphins, and star fish here. It can be busy with weekend boaters also enjoying the sand bar. Good BTC and Aliv cell service with 3 bars of voice and good data. No Wi-Fi.

Very quiet and peaceful. Pick a sandy patch depending on wind direction. Get as close to shore as your draft permits. Good holding in sand; 5 - 6 feet. There are some sandy patches on the inshore islets to explore to get off the boat, and the channels between the islets are full of marine life and several blue holes. Be careful exploring back there, it gets very shallow.

This is a gorgeous spot right under the lighthouse on the outside of Hope Town Harbour. Great holding in sand; 5-6 feet mean low water. This is a very busy area: expect large, frequent wakes from ferries and larger boats. Some wind protection from the east, and some from the west if you move closer to the Parrot Cays. Gets choppy and uncomfortable with southerly, westerly or northerly winds.

Secure anchorage for visiting Marsh Harbour. One of the only harbors in the Abacos with good holding, decent wind protection, and no moorings (room to anchor). Can be crowded during season. Excellent holding in sticky sand, 5 - 8 feet at mean low water. Protection from all but southwest-west, and that can get bumpy. Expect large wakes often. Try to avoid the "channel" between the entrance and the marinas to minimize wake problems. Dinghy to the Union Jack dock or the dinghy dock between Mangos and Harbor View. Supermarkets, hardware, marine supply, and anything else you might need is nearby. Taxis monitor VHF Channel 06 but are usually waiting at the Union Jack dock.

Popular anchorage with easy access to the wide and deep Moraine Channel with room for many boats. Good holding, sand and grass in 6-8 feet mean low water. Good protection except from southwest. Pretty beach for everyone to enjoy, including four-legged crew members. Very buggy at certain times. There is a "marked" trail to the ocean-side beach.

A popular roadstead anchorage for boats before or after Gulfstream crossings. Anchoring is possible on either side of the island depending on wind. Good holding in sand and some grass in 5-8 feet at mean low water. Many boats crossing the bank will pass by during high seasons, so be sure to show your mooring light and anchor well clear of the marked routes. May be buggy on still, warm nights.

We pulled in November 3, 2017. There is space for about 4 cruising boats to tie directly to the dock. Additional boats raft up. No power or water at the dock, but clean restrooms and a water fountain are available. This is a highway rest stop as well as a State Park. There are plenty of options for pets and people to stretch their legs and learn about the history of the area. The Dismal Swamp is slow-going, so this is a great stop to break the trip before Norfolk and Elizabeth City.

Very protected from E and NE; we had 5 days of 30 knot winds and could still dinghy to the beach. Some swell in S winds, no protection from the W. Enter from the west between Rabbit Rocks and Wedge Rocks and pass south of Cat Point. This is a well protected, secluded anchorage with 8-20 feet of water in sand with excellent holding. Protected by South Cat Cay to the west and shallow flats to the east. We experienced 35 knots of west wind and 20 knots of south, east, and north winds without issue. The current is strong here and you will swing on the current if the wind is under 15 knots.

The area is full of marine life; we saw sea turtles, rays, and sharks in the crystal clear water. Several beaches lie along the eastern shore for exploration and dog walks, but as of February 2017 a new development has begun construction on this part of the island. Shore access may change in the future.

Bimini Sands resort is approached due eastbound after passing the main Bimini channel markers. The entrance is narrow and shoals to 5 feet at low tide. West winds can create surge in the channel making the entrance tricky for slow moving vessels. Call the marina for the latest details. The marina monitors channel 68 on a handheld VHF radio; range is limited to the immediate area.

Customs and immigration clearance is straightforward; the dockmaster will call a taxi for you for the 2 mile trip to the airport where customs and immigration is located. Round-trip taxi fare to the airport is $10.

Floating docks provide a comfortable stay in all weather conditions. The marina complex features two pools; one is an infinity pool on a beautiful ocean beach. There is a nature trail on the marina property. Petite Conch Restaurant, located on the marina grounds, is closed for renovations, due to open April of 2017. The ships store is also closed and due to re-open April 2017. Call dockmaster for latest status and information.

A small grocery store, liquor store, and snack bar can be found on the road to the ferry to North Bimini.

In September 2016 we paid $20 a day for the mooring, plus $10 for dinghy dockage at Gangplank or $16 for dinghy dockage at Capital Yacht Club. The total per day was $30-$36, pretty pricey for a mooring. We swung very close (within 6 ft) to the wall. Gangplank does not have any wi-fi, even at the office. If you pay for Capital Yacht Club, you can pick up their wi-fi at the moorings. (We used both Gangplank and CYC and felt CYC was worth the extra money). There is a free pumpout boat that services the moorings. As a location, it can't be beat. Walking distance to the metro, groceries, and access to the overwhelming free museums and world class restaurants. What a thrill to moor with Washington Monument as our backdrop!

We anchored close to Tiffany Yachts during a cold front and had great protection from 35 knot north winds. Dinghy access at the bridge for dog walks.

Very scenic spot, great for paddle boarding and dinghy exploration. When we visited August 2016, Jacey Vineyards winery was only open on Saturdays. There are a few beaches and coves to land the dinghy for dog walks.

We were on the hard here for 5 weeks, living aboard and doing our own work. The wide travel lift was able to haul our catamaran with no issues. The office received packages for us, allowed us to use the courtesy car, and had wi-fi. The water available is not potable so DIY live aboards will have to drive to the fire station for potable water. We did not use the service department, but they seemed very dedicated and competent. Overall a great DIY or service yard.

Protected from all but south winds. Dinghy dockage available at Fishing Bay marina for $5 a day, or access to their facilities including a courtesy car, laundry, and pool for $10 a person a day. The marina is within walking distance to West Marine and a gas station. AT&T and T-Mobile had no service, but Verizon works.

Convenient location. Dinghy dockage at Waterside Marina was $3 a day and gave access to Norfolk's restaurants and shopping. Dinghy dockage at Portsmouth North Harbor and High Street Landings is free and gives access to historic Portsmouth and shops and restaurants. We did experience occasional wakes from tug boats going by. Unfortunately, this anchorage has many crab pots which limit anchoring opportunities.

We anchored in 25 knots of north wind and had great protection. We saw 5 feet on our depth sounder about 1/3 of the way up. No shore access, and the marshy banks mean there is no landing for a dog walk. Scenic, dark spot with amazing star viewing.

We stayed at the free dock, which was more than adequate. The dockmaster gave helpful directions over the radio and assisted with tie-up. Wifi worked at the docks as well as the office. We visited post Hurricane Matthew and the channel navigation is unchanged. Great town to walk around; restaurants, Piggly Wiggly and hardware store with propane fills within an easy walk.

Silver Lake is our favorite spot off the ICW. There are two dinghy docks - the Park Service dock and a small dinghy dock by the Community Docks. Easy shopping for groceries, great restaurants and boutiques. Many restaurants and coffee shops have outdoor seating and are pet friendly. About 50% of the restaurants and stores are closed between November and March. We visited post Hurricane Matthew with no issues. AT&T and T-Mobile have no service, but Verizon works great. Wifi available at the many coffee shops.
