Great holding in sand. Plenty of room. Not a quiet bucolic anchorage with lots of boats partying on the weekend, but it didn't bother us- was actually entertaining. Beautiful night view of the Miami skyline.

It's free and has a great view of the Miami skyline.

We've anchored here a dozen times. The holding is secure and protected 360 if you snug up into the southeast end. There is a sandy beach to land your dinghy on the north side and a running trail. We get ice at the marina on the south side of the anchorage which is also a restaurant. There's plenty of room to anchor so you never feel crowded. The area is also used by sailing clubs training for Olympic and other sailing events which are fun to watch. You can approach either side of the island an anchor in 8 to 10 ft of water. The view at night of the Miami skyline is stunning.

Quieter cove but can be busy depending on day/time. Dolphins sometimes hang out here. No amenities.

Please note, this anchorage is closed from mid-January until after the boat show (middle of February) each year; enforced by Miami marine police. Great protection from foul weather, beautiful view of downtown Miami and several beach options for dog walks. Jet skis and wake boarders use this area on the weekends.
