Green Turtle Cay - Black Sound

Description:
Black Sound is the well protected lagoon on the south end of Green Turtle Cay where most of the boating facilities in the area were located. The area was severely damaged by Hurricane Dorian and some facilities have yet to be rebuilt but fuel, services and dockage are available.
Much of Black Sound is taken up with mooring balls so anchoring within the sound is severely restricted. For vessels drawing 5' or less, there is room at southeast corner for a few boats to anchor next to the mangroves.

Black Sound is full of mooring balls. If you can find a spot to squeeze in, the holding is reported to be very poor in thick grass. The community dock and boat ramp is located on the southern shore next to Donny's. Good wind protection from all directions. Expect some occasional ferry wakes. 5-star location, but we prefer to take a mooring.
