We docked Willing at Half Moon Bay for 10 days in May on our Great Loop trip. Steve, the dockmaster is a legend of hospitality and he did everything to make our stay comfortable, fun and safe. The seasonal boaters we met were very friendly too . We left Willing and traveled the short train ride back to New York City. We spent three days and two nights in the city and really could have spent a month and not seen it all. We then rented a car from the nearby Enterprise and visited West Point and hiked up to the top of Bear Mountain on the Appalachian Trail. The AT crosses the Hudson on the Bear Mountain Bridge which is the only place the GL crosses the AT. Croton is a great town extending in both directions along the River. There are lots of restaurants shops and stores within walking distance of HMB. The Apple Barn looks like a small store from the outside but they had most of the provisions a boater needs. This facilities, location and Steve's hospitality combined to make this stop a highlight of our Great Loop adventure.

We had a great stay. The docks are older but well maintained and secure, and the location is perfect. Troy advised us on the best approach given the current and got us secured on a dock parallel to the current. Easy! Our daughter lost her phone and it was turned into the Ships Store. Sunshine and Heidi mailed it to our next port of call in Charleston. Thank you so much. That was beyond the call of duty! Bathrooms clean and showers hot. Great wifi and cellular. Price was very reasonable for the great level of service. Check out Janet’s Walking Tour of Beaufort. What a great way to learn and have fun.
