We can see how these mooring balls could get rocky on a windy day or on a busy weekend day. We stayed a Thursday and Friday night and were very comfortable. The dinghy dock is super close; we chose the one nearest the Harbormaster building. We enjoyed the history found within the statehouse building. Our walking tour of the naval academy was outstanding; we even got to see the plebes line up for lunch roll call. Great stop!

June 21,2022. We stayed three days and took dingy to access town. Lots to see and do here. We took long walk to West Marine. We took Uber and Lyft back to carry purchased items back to dingy. The main mooring field is EXPOSED to wind, wake, wave, current, and city noise and light. We went and used a mooring up the Spa Creek The mooring field immediately after the bridge is for boats up 35'. Bridge clearance is around 15' so needed an opening. They do not open from 7:30 to 9:00 am and evening rush hours also.

Great way to see Annapolis without breaking the bank with a transient slip. Showers are good and the staff are very accommodating. Easy dingy access to various points around the mooring field. Great place to sit on the deck and watch the flow of boats in and out of Annapolis.

The moorings are well spaced and in good condition. The staff are prompt and courteous. The dinghy docks are kind of dirty but there are lots of them in good places.

The main mooring field is HIGHLY EXPOSED to wind, wake, wave, current, and city noise and light. I strongly recommend going through the draw bridge and grabbing a mooring up the Spa River if you can. The mooring field immediately after the bridge is for smaller boats and was completely empty while we were there (same as in the Google Maps satellite photos). It would be great if they'd take out half of them and open it up to bigger boats.

Be aware that if you do go up the river, there are a few mooring fields that are ANNUAL membership only. You'll want to make sure you are picking up an Annapolis City Dock mooring ball. They are all labeled and on the website map.

Also be sure to check the drawbridge information! It's only 40 feet wide so catamarans beware! There are plenty of big cats up the river so it's absolutely passable, but you'll want to be on your A-Game if there is any wind, current, or wake, happening during your bridge navigation.

The facility works! Despite the afternoon evening rocking and rolling caused by traffic, the moorings work and calm down after dark. We had a great view of the 4th July fireworks. Rented from Enterprise for a day to run some errands. Water taxi service is very prompt and cheap. We had a pump out from the pump out boat (channel 17). The dockmaster office accepts deliveries from Amazon etc. Would stay again.
