Ft. Lauderdale, FL

[HRS] DEACTIVATED ON 7/5/22 BECAUSE THERE ARE ALREADY 2 GOIN' ASHORES FOR FORT LAUDERDALE.
*****
Nearly 300 miles of mostly navigable inland waterways carve through the Fort Lauderdale area making it the “Venice of America.” With the Atlantic Ocean surf to the east and the traffic-laden ICW running north and south the city is conspicuously water-oriented. The New River and its tributaries cut through the center of town and manmade side canals sprout in all directions.
Well known as a yachting center Fort Lauderdale harbors more recreational boats than any other port in Florida. Not surprisingly the marine industry ranks second only to tourism. The city boasts more than 800 marina-related businesses–including a collection of marinas, yacht services, sailmakers, boatyards, yacht brokers, dinghy manufacturers and marine supply stores–and the craftspeople here are some of the best in the business.

The New River area of Fort Lauderdale is an extraordinary visitor destination. Spanning the north and south banks of the river is the Riverwalk Park, a waterfront park in the heart of downtown. The lush tropical landscape and winding walkways link attractions, restaurants and shops and is the epicenter for special events, including a Jazz Brunch, held the first Sunday of every month in the Bubier Park area of Riverwalk.
