Grand Bahama is a sophisticated and well-organized island for visiting boats, especially for those with children on board. While downtown Freeport is where the locals shop, conduct business and visit doctors and lawyers, Port Lucaya is the tourist epicenter with marinas, shopping, restaurants, entertainment and hotel resorts.

If you have transportation, the 12-acre Garden of the Groves is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island. The manicured gardens are filled with tropical plants, colorful birds, cascades and a labyrinth plus views from a hilltop chapel (242-374-7778).
