Great Marina! Easy on and off on the long face dock. We stayed here for a big blow - I think we had 35-40kts one night. I have read the reviews about the dock and can say that we did not have any discomfort. We are a heavy Hans Christian which may have made the difference, but we were very comfortable. We did notice that the connecting dock from the fixed to floating moves a bit when the wind is over the current- but we felt that was the safest thing- if it didn’t move it would be a problem. The staff are great - super friendly, attentive and accommodating. Easy walk to town. Car rental right around the corner - we drove to Charleston and therefore we didnt feel we needed to stop there - this is a great stop ! Highly recommend and we will be back

While this looks like a fully exposed bay on the charts, it is surrounded by breakwaters which keeps it pretty mellow in here. There are a lot of local power boats and some jet skis during the day. We stayed here on a mildly windy night so we didn't experience any rolling. We did not experience current. We anchored about 1000 feet from the beach and there was also shore access on Duck Island (you can anchor closer to Duck as well but since winds were going to come out of the West, we chose the beach) Holding was fantastic - as soon as we set our anchor, it stuck and about 2 minutes after setting we had a squall come through with 27-30kt winds at and we didn't budge. I can't comment on ease of shopping because we didn't go ashore but it looks like a residential/beach location and not a village.

This is a fabulous marina - super clean, lovely grounds, well protected and affordable. I can't say enough - we loved our stay here

I will say that they have one older gentleman working there who I believe is now the assistant harbor master who is unecessarily difficult to deal with and rude over the phone as well as radio. Over time, we learned that this is just his natural demeanor. After watching and hearing him interact with so many guests - we realized that it's best just to laugh it off - but very offensive to some guests for sure. Be aware if bump into him... it's not you, it's him - and the other folks who work at the marina are fantastic!
