We arrived Sunday 6/9/24 about noon. There are issues with the gates. We had called Saturday night to make sure the gates were operational due to the gate problem Saturday during the day. We called the lock on 68. The response was in French. When we arrived there were 2 boats docked, waiting. From them we learned the gates were down. They would not be fixed today maybe Monday or Tuesday. Also, there was a down bound boat stuck in the lock.

4 Jul 2023. We had to stay at the upper lock wall due to the guillotine gate not being fixed. We had called them from Golden Anchor Marina and they said they were going to do a test run and that they could get us through with a 90% chance. However when we arrived they shut the lock down and had to call another team of mechanics in. The lock staff was phenomenal and kept us updated on the repairs. We were able to walk to the lower wall and meet friends who were coming upbound and had a great 4th of July celebration. The next morning electrical mechanics were able to fix the system. At about 11:30 they locked the boats that were at the bottom wall up and we were immediately told to go into the lock and took the 65-ft ride down. Kudos to the lock staff who kept us in the know and were very helpful. Sam & Rev on Here's To Us!!, 50' Carver at WhatYachtToDo.com

We locked through upbound on June 16, 2022. The water levels were up making the approach past the dam to the lock entry a little tricky with swirling water. The water level was so high that the dock at the blue line was submerged. The Lock Master promptly answered my hail on channel 68 in excellent English. He inquired about our boat's dimensions as well as those of our 2 buddy boats. He provided clear instructions on how to enter the lock with two of us rafting together (called shoulder mooring here). The lock has a floating dock on the upbound starboard side. After tying off it was a smooth, easy lift of 62 feet. The Lock Master also provided us with very useful weather and navigation information for the remainder of our travel that day.
