Rainbow-over-the-Boaters-Grill-No-Name-Harbor.jpgSix days ago, on Saturday, November 21. 2015, M/V Nauset reached No Name Harbor, in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, at the south end of Key Biscayne. The day we arrived was windy and rainy and Biscayne Bay was getting messy. The next morning, Sunday, the Small Craft Advisories went up, the wind went up and the occasional showers became harder and sometimes horizontal. Things have stayed that way ever since.

Tuesday night the wind hit 35 mph sustained, gusting to 43 mph. The rain showers are brief and between showers, the sun comes out and paradise is windy but very pretty. We had some more strong squalls last night (our dinghy has 4 inches of rain in it) and right now the wind is a sustained 18-20 mph, gusting 35 mph.

Cape-Florida-Light.jpgConditions are supposed to moderate over the weekend and if they do, we’ll leave Sunday morning and go down to Boca Chita and then, on Monday to Black Water Sound. We are due at our usual winter spot, the Coral Bay Marina, on Islamorada (about ICW Mile 1160, Overland Hwy. Mile Mark 81) on Tuesday, December 1.

Three of the boats here at No Name Harbor (us, a trawler with two Germans aboard, and one of the sailboats) are headed south to the Keys, all the others are waiting for an opportunity to make the crossing to the Bahamas – looks like they will get their window Monday and Tuesday.
