Port O'Connor, TX

Port O' Connor is on the southwest shore of Matagorda Bay and on the north side of the GIWW. In the 19th century it was a fishing community called Alligator Head. There are two small marine facilities in Port O'Connor that may be able to accommodate you but call ahead.

Port Lavaca is located to the north of Port O' Connor and is home to the municipal Nautical Landings Marina and the Port Lavaca Yacht Club. A long walk on the road in front of the marina leads around the shrimp boat basin at the end of the Lavaca Channel to Lighthouse Beach and Port Lavaca Bird Sanctuary near the causeway. This park includes an elevated wetlands walkway, a bird-watching tower, a water park and picnic areas.
