Gore Bay is the service centre for Western Manitoulin with all types of stores, restaurants, banking, accommodations and government offices. No visit is complete without a walk along the boardwalk which wraps around the shore of the bay. A hiking trail connects the boardwalk to the East Bluff Lookout with panoramic scenic views overlooking the bay. There is also a lighthouse at Janet Head. It is closed to the public due to safety concerns but can be viewed from the road or water.
Gore Bay has an airport and the only Customs officers on the Island, who will be dispatched to your vessel should you require clearance in. Ground transportation can be secured by speaking with the staff at Canadian Yacht Charters.
