Shark attacks swimmer in Ft. Lauderdale ICW

A 22-year old woman was swimming in the Ft. Lauderdale iCW near Middle River with friends last week when a shark attacked her. She is in the hospital with a nasty bite on her leg, but is expected to fully recover. The offender is thought to be a 4-foot-long bull shark.
Sharks, and shark attacks, are rare in the ICW; however the closer one is to an ocean inlet, the higher the chance that there may be sharks about. Bull sharks will travel far up rivers and are particularly aggressive. This attack was over 3 miles from Port Everglades inlet in an area frequented by water skiers and tubers.
