  Powell Cay is an uninhabited cay that is next in line heading south from Spanish Cay. It is only a short dinghy ride to Coopers Town, making Powell a place to be by yourself and yet remain close to a source of fuel and other provisions. 

  The southwest shore of Powell Cay describes a wide and shallow, tree-lined bay that has a narrow beach that covers most of the shoreline. It is a favorite for pet owners who wish to give their pets an opportunity to run the beach. There is adequate holding and protection for prevailing conditions and even in post-cold front winds exceeding 20 kts, vessels will enjoy relatively calm conditions.

  The area is wide open from southeast to north so the approaching phases of frontal weather will make the area untenable unless you move over to the Great Abaco shoreline at Cooperstown, which is only 2.5 nm away. The best holding will be found at the point where the beach makes a sharp dogleg change of direction. At low tide the wreck of an old barge becomes awash.
