Crab Cay/AngelFish Point
- Location: Great Abaco Island
- Lat / Lon: N 26° 55.127' / W 077° 36.006'
- Depth: 10'-12'
- Tide: 2.0'-2.5'
- Description:
Many people avoid this anchorage because charts indicate poor holding; however, there is excellent protection from north northwest thru south southwest and the holding is very good, provided care is taken to set the anchor in clear sand. Be mindful that the anchorage is wide open to the west and it will become choppy if the winds rise above 20 kts. Vessels drawing 4’ or less can tuck in close to the sandy beach at the eastern end of the anchorage but most other vessels will prefer to anchor in 10-12’ of water near the mouth of the bay.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
