Double Breasted Southeast
- Location: Grand Cays, Little Bahama Bank
- Lat / Lon: N 27° 11.390' / W 078° 16.400'
- Depth: 7'-10'
- Tide: 2.0'-2.5'
- Description:
The SE anchorage at Double Breasted is the easiest to access but offers the least amount of protection. If the wind shifts south of east, a short chop will build rapidly as the entire SE shoreline of Double-Breasted turns into a lee shore. In settled conditions this anchorage is fine but a wind shift can cause conditions to become uncomfortable very quickly. It is possible to follow the shoreline of Double Breasted and anchor on the north side of Sandy Cay. The anchorage is deeper and narrower than the Sand Cay anchorage on the south side, which makes setting an anchor a challenge. In settled conditions it is common to see small, center console fishing boats with their bows beached on the north side of Sand Cay.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
