Man O War Bay Mooring Field

  • Lat / Lon: N 26° 35.791' / W 077° 00.415'
  • Description:

They say there is no anchoring in Man O War Bay however we saw five boats that appeared to be anchored at the northwest end. Well, protected from wind and swell from all four directions . One must be aware that there are several concrete mooring blocks that are unmarked. We witnessed an island packet with a 4'5" draft get lifted 3 inches out of the water as he ran across an unmarked mooring block. We rented a mooring ball from the township and drifted across another mooring block behind us gently scraping it at low tide as well with a 4'2" draft The township manages these mooring balls, and it is a shame that they don't do a better job of marking, maintaining, or placing them.

DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.

Holding:
Used a mooring ball but told the north end has fair holding in sand and grass the water itself is Six to seven feet deep in the middle of the bay.
Shore Access:
Great dinghy access and a marina from which you can access a charming little town with a great grocery store great views from the top of the hill and tons of history.
