- Depth: 7'-9'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
At one time Pasture Cay as the name implies was used as a cow pasture. The cattle have long since been removed and today Pasture Cay is part of a long-term experiment being conducted by the Bahamas National Trust to measure the rate at which flora and fauna return in the absence of human interference. The island is posted, and access is strictly forbidden.
On the south side of the island there is a large triangular shaped sand bar extending to the west that provides a secure place to anchor with good protection from the NE-S and is an ideal stop for vessels waiting for a high tide to transit the west side of Bell Island.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
