Mckanns Bay is suitable for shallow drafted vessels only. Most of the bay is shoal and there is the rocky bar known as Sturrups Cay in the middle. In prevailing easterly winds the anchorage is well protected and there is a small dock next to the highway that can be used for going ashore.
