Compass Cay
- Location: Northern Exuma
- Lat / Lon: N 24° 15.540' / W 076° 31.190'
- Depth: 7-10 Feet
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
The anchorage is perched on the edge of a sandbar that defines the channel in the Compass Cay Marina. The holding is good and there is protection from all directions except west. Although the anchorage is open to the south, the shallow water of the sand bar prevents fetch from building. A bigger factor in comfort will be the very strong current that runs through the anchorage and the steady stream of wakes from boats passing by. It is a little like stopping on the side of the highway!
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
