Suwanee River, FL

Suwanee River, FL

The Suwanee River originates in Georgia's Okefenokee Swamp and meanders about 280 miles before reaching the Gulf of Mexico. This is Old Florida territory and you won't find much here except the beauty of the river and the 70-plus springs that feed millions of gallons of water into it every day.

The tannin-stained water of the Suwanee River was the inspiration for Stephen Foster's Suwannee River from "Old Folks at Home," which is Florida's official state song.
