St. Peter’s is a small village at the southern tip of Bras d’Or Lake. Access to the lake—and to town—is through the historic St. Peter’s Lock. The canal lock has unique double doors at each end because, depending on the tides, vessels may lock up or down from either direction. The lock and bridge operate in unison and open on request.
