We came in off of the C & D at almost low tide. We did cut it close to the northern shore got 3.5 ft - not close to what is charted but we only have a 3.2 draft so it not an issue. We dropped anchor a little east of this mark in 4 ft of water expecting a 2-ft increase with the tide change. We had a light breeze and no traffic except for some boats on the Elk giving us a few slow rolls during the night. We normally swing a lot but barely moved. Cell service was great and it was a quiet, restful night. We left at low tide going out closer to south shore and had depts of 5 and 6 feet. If you going to try this anchorage, I suggest going in this way.

No board going Southbound. Clearance is not 27. We had 23 at low tide (and keep in mind that tidal change is minimal).

    • WG Editor Comment:

NOAA chart shows 27 feet at center.

This is a great spot but the current flow is intense. One of our propellers was turning most of the night (never had that happen before). We were surrounded by marshes and could hear lots of wildlife. We had beautiful views of the sunset and moonrise.

Nice marina with great dock hands and staff. We spent 3 nights here. It’s a resort with pool and has cool bar and restaurant. Great views inlet and light house. Decent wifi too.

This was our first time anchoring and as the other reviewer stated, it was choppy. Not much wind protection either but we have an aft cabin so we we tend to have a kite effect and move around a bit. There is a restaurant next to this spot and we saw our neighbors take their dingy over and pick up dinner. We also enjoyed the live band while having drinks on our helm watching the sunset. I’d say it is a good place to spend the night.
