We had four young men come on our boat at 11:45 pm looking to ???? They did leave when confronted but this could have gone bad. The docks are wide open to the crowds leaving the Music Venue late at night.

There is an "amusment park" venue across the lagoon that has "screaming teens" on the rides until midnight, The festival music can be loud and play late into the night.

Tie up and power were ok, NO other services (not even water). Well protected.

Congratulations, you made it under the low bridges. BUT WAIT, STOP, there are more low bridges to come (not the 15'5" jobs- but 16' and change). You've come to far to mess up now. Read the charts, use caution, don't rush to put your "stuff" back up to soon. Today I watched 4 experienced loopers hit low bridges because they lost focus.

Small floating dock ( for two looper size boats), the rest of the bulkhead was so bad that I would not stop no matter how many fenders I had. If you can't get here early and on the floating dock, I suggest you pass on by and go to your backup spot. There is a wide spot in the canal just west of here to anchor out if needed.

The pin drop for this free wall is off a little. Look for the free wall 100 yrds from the bridge. The concreate is a little rough and boats coming out of the flights may be a little hard on the gas (use penty of fenders for wakes), the ice cream store is like right there. Breakwater was OK, Docks were worn (but servicable), bathrooms need updating badly, no marina services (laundry, ship store, or dock help).

The WG listing needs to be updated to reflect current conditions/amenities.

Steve did check-in with us daily, but concerns were not addressed in a timely manner (like no TP in the bathrooms for 2 days)

Feel the marina was listed as 5 stars when it was really a solid 3

    • WG Editor Comment:

      Marina Response:
Thank you for your review. Our restrooms were being remodeled and were stripped down during your stay, which I truly apologize for. We have a very low priced and free laundry service that visits the marina 6 times a day to pick-up/ deliver clothes to our boaters. There's several cleaners as well as a do it yourself laundromat that's a short walk from the marina. Agreed that your finger pier was a little worn, and we have replaced a good 35 percent of the docks with all new piers, and are currently in the process of re-decking all of the marina with new surface boards. The understructures are by far in superb condition as we are constantly revamping them weekly. As of June 1st we do have 3 dockhands as well as an office staff. We do hope you can visit again and give us a chance to show you a five star experience. Have a great summer!

Current, wind and wake were not an issue.

Only draw back was nobody on site to help with the lines coming in (I could have called the Dockmaster on the phone and he said he would come down to help with 20 min notice, so I guess it's not all that bad)

Stopped for fuel, unable to raise fuel dock on radio, lots of small craft traffic, dock help was hesitant on helping with the lines and service. (To be honest, it was a Sunday afternoon and the place was hopping)

But great price for Diesel and easy access.

Locals refer to this as “West Venetian Bridge”.

Operator did great getting us thru. If you have to hold up on the south side, the basin between bridges is limited.

Great spot to hold up on way North to Miami, crystal clear water, far enough off the ICW to have no wake or noise, protection only from the North. Stay a little back from the island to minimize the bugs.

Marina right in the down town area, the Duval loop is right off the dock. Dock hands were a great help getting into the slip and tying off the boat. Price a little high, but location makes it all worth it.

While in town, try the “Better Than Sex” desert restaurant (reservations required), the deserts are “to die for”.

Five nice mooring balls in 7 ft of water. Plenty of space between moorings. Area littered heavily with crab pots. Moorings were all occupied by sunset. Very calm and beautiful at sunrise.

Great spot to hold up for the night, Holding was solid, plenty of room for 10+ large boats. Fishing boats did cross mooring area during the night.
