On a scale of one to five Portside Marina is a seven. This small marina focused on local and offshore fishing has diesel and gas. They are a great place to keep your boat power, sail, or premium. Although they aren't focused on transients they are a great fuel stop and in the event of an emergency they are there to support you. They are the closest place to Beaufort Inlet. Close to groceries, hardware, West Marine, rental cars, and a number of other retail opportunities. Don't miss the opportunity to meet owners Dr. Denard and Kay Harris who exemplify Southern hospitality.

Short fuel stop on delivery yesterday 7/18/20 reminded me why I like Calvert Marina so much. Very easy in and out (watch for shoal upstream of fuel dock). Extremely kind and responsive staff. We called from Drum Point and someone met us at the fuel dock. Very good VHF practices - responded right away.

On a previous visit they let us touch-and-go for a crew change. A yet earlier winter time fuel stop they ran hundreds of yards of hose so we could get water...in February.

"No" is not in their vocabulary.

I stopped here on a northbound delivery. Getting through the Alligator-Pungo Canel was not in the cards after an 85 mile day. Anchor down and boat secure at 10p. Very comfortable night except for the AIS alarms from tugs in the channel. Surprising settled for a roadstead. Absolutely gorgeous views. Great holding even with an old, undersized CQR. Highly recommended as a stop for ICW transits.
