Anchored here in settled weather 3 days, 12' @mhw, in clay. holding excellent. had 20 kt SW gusts one night made for uncomfortable night. Access to Jamestown through Powhatten Creek.. Nice marina and brewery 1 mile up creek. You can dinghy to James City County Marina via Sandy Bay and up Powhatten Creek. Access to Sandy Bay is about 1 mile south of the anchorage. Short walk to Jamestown Museum and ships.

Anchored here in 11', awaiting low tide East River. Easy access. Good holding in mud and protection all around. No wake. As stated above, many shore fishers. A few small craft recreational boaters. Can land dinghy on beach but no way to secure. Another sailboat anchored just outside entrance awaiting tide but more exposed to west wind and wakes.

We saw 7.5 beneath the keel at low tide. As others stated, no amentities but still free for 72 hours. We had a NE wind of 10-12 kts and outgoing tide with 1.5 kt flow. Tied up on east end. Saw roseatte spoonbills, osprey, little blue heron and a bald eagle.

Entered near full moon low tide (2/16/22). Favor red side till first bend then head toward marina to strbd. Good depth after that. Anchored in 12' mud past Hogans marina(some supplies, friendly). $10 dinghy tie up at Hogans. Publix next door. Ace Hardware across street. Bus stop opposite Publix to Savannah (#10). Recommend "Cheers" for character. "Basils" for pizza.

As stated above, great location, easy, secure docking on floating docks. Well protected in 20+ knot winds. We found the staff friendly and helpful, restrooms basic but clean with ample hot water. Took advantage of the location for visiting downtown attractions. Loved the Aquarium and R&R Hall of Fame. West Marine a long walk but manager gave us a ride back.

Good protection except from the south. Good holding in mud. Locals advised public access for dinghy with a short walk to store/cafe (not personally confirmed).
