Lake Worth Inlet to be closed to all vessels on Feb 2nd from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm for installation of dredging pipes. <br /> <br /> The estimated time is one hour for the installation of the dredging pipes but a three hour window was requested in case difficulties were encountered. During installation, the pipes will be across the entrance. I received this letter from the county commissioner on the status of the Donald Ross bridge repair. <br /> <br /> Good Afternoon Mr. Sherer,<br /> <br /> I hope this finds you well. The County Engineer provided an update regarding the repair timeframe for the Donald Ross Bridge. It is estimated that the bridge should be fully operational in early February. The failed mechanical and electrical components have been identified through extensive diagnostic testing and troubleshooting. Currently, there is a large vertical clearance from the water's edge to the low member of the bridge that allows most boat traffic to pass until the bridge is fully operational. As additional updates are provided, I will keep you abreast. 1/18/2023 UPDATE at 12:40 pm.<br /> I finally got hold of the Action Center for the bridge. The repair part arrived as we knew but the bridge will not be repaired within the next two to three days (unless a miracle happens). They do not yet even have a plan for when it will be repaired. A possible repair date is sometime next week but there are no commitments from anyone associated with the bridge on anything.

That was fixed a couple of days later but the leaf (one of two leafs) could not be lifted again without the danger of being stuck in the up position. <br /> <br /> I will be maintaining contact with Dan daily and provide updates here. Dan is also updating the Coast Guard daily. There are barges waiting to pass through that presently cannot (the barge is 35 ft high and doesn't want to risk it). I had a leaking through hull that needed repair before I left the boat for two months while I went north for the holidays. Hurricane Nicole paid a visit on the day I was due to be hauled. The yard manager called me and she offered to bring the yard crew in later on their day off so I could have peace of mind while in New York. <br /> <br /> The boat was hauled and Boater's Edge did the repair - all the work was outstanding, no leaks anymore. The yard and Boater's Edge really have their act together!

Reasonably priced marinas on the east coast of Florida are hard to find. Titusville Marina is one of the few left where you can leave your boat for weeks at a time if desired for a return trip north for the holidays and still have funds left to entertain the kids. <br /> <br /> The docks are massive with the biggest diameter pilings I've ever seen at any marina. The transients docks are fixed but there's no tide except for wind driven tides. They have three washers and dryers, WiFi that now works after several upgrades, a dog park next door, a park nearby for a morning walk, and a CVS 5 minutes away on foot. <br /> <br /> To take full advantage of the area, you need a car. Then you can explore the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, Playalinda National Seashore, Kennedy Space Center (excellent!), Uber works well here), or even visit Disney World in Orlando. There's an Enterprise in town for car rentals. You can even watch a rocket launch from your boat, we saw a Space X launch from the bow of Fleetwing last week.<br /> <br /> The staff and long termers are great and will check your boat while you're away. There are many provisioning choices with Walmart and Publix in town along with a Home Depot. The docks are secured with a gate that only opens with a card supplied by the office. I've stayed here for the past 13 years in November through January while up north for the holidays and felt my boat was well cared for.

The water levels in the area can vary by up to 2 feet due to wind tides. A good measure of the general water level can be found by looking at the height boards at the famous low bridge at Wabasso. If the height board shows 64 ft, then the approach depth to Loggerhead Marina is 6.0 MLLW using the Wabasso, Indian River tide station as the reference for tide. <br /> <br /> Here's a summary: <br /> Height board = 65 feet, Loggerhead approach depth = 5.0 MLLW<br /> Height board = 64 feet, Loggerhead approach depth = 6.0 MLLW<br /> Height board = 63 feet, Loggerhead approach depth = 7.0 MLLW<br /> Height board = 62 feet, Loggerhead approach depth = 8.0 MLLW<br /> <br /> As an aside, 65 feet of clearance on the height board at Wabasso Bridge is rare but can happen in strong north winds. The usual clearance at the Wabasso Bridge is 63 to 64 feet. <br /> <br /> All you need to do on the approach is stay centered in the well-marked channel but if you want a track, it's available at <br /> https://bobicw.blogspot.com/p/bob423-long-tracks.html<br /> Be sure to not let current or wind push you outside the channel.

I transited Angelfish Creek on 3/28/2022 at 9:56 am and found the least depth to be 5.6 MLLW (corrected using the Ocean Reef Harbor tide station). The 5.6 MLLW reading was at the halfway point between R3 and R3A, deeper elsewhere. <br /> <br /> At the bay side exit, the least I saw was 7.4 MLLW corrected using the Pumpkin Key tide station. The 7.4 MLLW reading was by R12. <br /> <br /> For the entire transit I split all markers, staying in the middle of the channel. They have fixed docks with a short finger (about 15 feet long). With a 2.5 foot tidal range, it can be a big step off the boat at times but very doable. <br /> <br /> The marina is protected 360 and the three story buildings nearby provide some wind protection too. The dock comes with access to the swimming pool (complete with a towel) and free breakfast (Jimmy Dean egg sandwiches, danish, boiled egg, cereal, coffee, OJ, etc.) The WiFi at the dock is poor, we used cellular while there although you can access WiFi in the office for free. They have a good laundry room (4 washers, 4 dryers), showers, and bathroom - all with badge locks. <br /> <br /> Skippers restaurant is next door and it's very good. We had a great dinner there one night and it's outside with a roof, good air flow. Other restaurants will require a car as nothing much is nearby. Enterprise rent a car is a 0.6 mile hike, I rented a car one day and explored the area, recommended.

Easy in and out for fuel but if you want a pump-out, be sure to use the fuel dock to the left of the dock house. The fuel dock closest to the channel does not have pump-out. <br /> <br /> We used the floating docks which were first-rate. The WiFi slowed down at night, we had to use our iPhone with an HDMI connection to our TV using our Verizon cellular data. We could not stream over an Amazon Fire Stick, WiFi kept dropping out. <br /> <br /> The facilities are very nice but we didn't use them, just an overnight stay. There is a first rate restaurant at the marina, Lazy Days, but It's a long walk to any other restaurant.

I found the dockhands to be courteous and helpful in the 10 years I've been coming to the Key West Bight Marina each February and March. <br /> <br /> There are four types of docks, be sure to specify which type you want: fixed docks with no fingers (we use this type) where you exit over the bow or off the aft end up a dock ladder), side-to fixed dock, fixed dock with fingers, and floating docks. <br /> <br /> The dock house was renovated in 2010 with new showers, bathrooms, and laundry area - with an air conditioned, all tile interior. It has a badge lock entry for security. Free pump out valves are spaced along each dock. A cart with hoses is available at the dock office if you want to do it yourself or a dockhand will help if needed. Free WiFi is provided by OnSpotWiFi and I typically measured 30 Mbps at my dock - we streamed Netflix and Amazon Prime every night, no problems. For long term renters, electricity is metered. Despite the nearby restaurants with music, it's quiet at night, they close down by 11:00 pm. <br /> <br /> The real attraction of the marina is the closeness to nearby restaurants (200 ft to Schooner Wharf) and Duval Street (three blocks away). The free Duval Loop bus stops at the street next to the marina which provides easy access to all of Duval Street attractions. <br /> <br /> Winn Dixie and Publix will both deliver to the end of your dock for a monthly fee, we used the service once a week. Laundry picked up, washed, folded, and delivered back to your boat is available for a reasonable fee. I'm a runner and I went out every morning for 30 minutes, easy to run in Key West where it's flat.<br /> <br /> We enjoy it and come back every year.

A great stop, top notch service and facilities. The entrance is easy. I found 7.0 MLLW on the way in my paying attention and staying exactly in the middle of the channel, splitting all markers. <br /> <br /> It's easy to find less water by straying from the middle of the entrance channel. Current and wind can set you if your attention strays.<br /> <br /> You can now dock side to on the new docks and the marina is totally protected from waves in its own basin. They have OnSpotWiFi and the dockhands are excellent.

I followed the well marked channel into the marina on 1/18/2022 and found nothing less than 7.0 MLLW. I was careful to not drift out of the channel middle, which is easy to do if you're not careful due to side currents and wind. <br /> <br /> As with many areas, if you're out of the channel, you will find shallow water - but the middle of this channel is unobstructed and with 7.0 MLLW depths.

The docks are well maintained, there are 6 washers and 6 dryers, ice can be delivered to your boat, every dock has a security gate operated with a card handed out upon sign in, the WiFi works, and there are places to walk your pet. The laundry machines do not take coins. You must download an app for your smartphone and deposit money in your account. The problem with that is the inability to specify the exact amount you need to load, leaving leftover funds in your account by having to choose one of the default load numbers. There is a refund process but it would be better to just specify what's needed at the start.

Use SonarChart in Navionics for anchoring, I found the depths accurate. There's room for dozens of boats and a big attraction is the nearby Olde Key Lime restaurant. They have a dinghy dock for those that wish to dine. Using SonarChart, we anchored in 8 MLLW, well out of the ICW channel. There is shore access via the public ramp which also has tie ups for shore visits.

The marina has new docks and for my transient stay, I had a side to dock. Docking could not have been easier. There is no current inside and you're partially shielded from the wind by surrounding houses. The WiFi worked and it was quiet at night. I found 6.8 MLLW in the channel to the marina but you have to carefully stay in the middle of the fairway, it's easy to drift out of the middle. Although I saw 6.8 MLLW, it was at a time when the Wabasso Bridge showed only 63 ft on the height boards. With a reading of 64 ft, the 6.8 MLLW turns into 5.8 so look at the Wabasso bridge height boards to predict the water depth on the way in (the tide at the time was only 0.1 ft, the wind driven tide has a greater effect - which can be gauged by noting the height boards at the Wabasso bridge).

I'm commenting on the haulout and repair services, not the marina dockage. I've used their haulout service twice in the past two years and both times my boat has been treated carefully and their travellift has performed flawlessly. Boater's Edge, a marine repair service located in the marina, has worked on my boat several times over the past five years. Jeff Belford runs the shop and he hires good mechanics, always reliable. I've had a rear oil seal replaced, a seacock replaced, and a new Lewmar hatch installed. All work was very professional, greatly appreciated, and at a reasonable price. I would recommend his services to anyone.

Great dockhands, always helpful in docking. The fixed docks are the most massive I've ever seen on the ICW, they have withstood hurricanes. They have a fenced-in dog park that our dog loves and a place for a morning run in Sand Point Park. There's a CVS in town about 1/2 mile away and a Save-A-Lot supermarket a little farther for provisioning connected to the marina with a sidewalk. The marine store in the office has the essentials and they have a well-organized postal area, rich in Amazon packages (of course). A pump-out boat will come to your slip twice a week if needed at no charge other than a tip. The bathrooms and showers have recently been renovated and new commercial-grade washers and dryers were installed last year at $1.50/load. A new WiFi system was installed in the spring of 2021 that is still being adjusted for better speed. The staff of the marina is very welcoming, can't be beaten. We've stayed here in November through January every winter for the past 11 years, it's a great value. Oh yes, if you have a TV antenna on your boat, you'll get all the major networks and about 50 more channels too.

This is a large anchorage with room for dozens of boats although you'll have to look a bit to find a spot among the permanent residents. The holding is excellent and it shows when you pull up your anchor in the morning, it will be covered in thick mud. The attraction for me is a dinghy dock for shore access for my dog. Passing boats on the ICW will rock you during the day but it dies down at night.

Docking and leaving here can be an adventure due to the swift currents. You will usually be given a dock into the current so that part is not too bad. However, when leaving, you may have current with you or against you so take great care. The current is not parallel to the docks, you will be pushed at an angle (maybe 30 degrees), be forewarned. The dockhands are excellent, they've had a lot of practice. The WiFi is first-rate (OnSpotWiFi). Fuel is available and pump-out can be had at your slip, a big plus. The big attraction is St Augustine. It's a big town for the ICW and there are many shops and restaurants to explore. The Castillo de San Marcos fort is nearby which is free if you have a Golden Passport from seniors. Don't miss the local artists on display at the St Augustine Art Association building near the marina.

The dock is a good halfway point between Fernandina and St Augustine. The docks are very sturdy and the water is deep (15 to 20 ft on the outside). The approach can be tricky if the current is running, 1 to 2 kts at times. We always come in bow first and if the current is behind us, it makes for a carefully timed reversed thrust with lots of fenders along the side. On leaving, we just back out. There's no electricity but there is water on a long hose. The nearby park is good for walking your pet and stretching your legs. The on-shore bathrooms are not always open. Rafting is allowed when full but seldom used. There are no wakes and no wave action, very protected. The inside dock at the end towards the ICW can also be used and it has 6 MLLW even though it looks to be very close to shore. Please space your boat close to the other boats so there's as much room as possible for other boaters to use this very popular free dock.

Docking is along one long facedock and the dockhands are good at their job. WiFi works if you're docked close to the dockhouse, not so good if you're farther down the dock. They have fuel and pump-out but the big attraction is the town of Fernandina Beach with lots of shops and restaurants to explore. On Saturdays, there's a farmers' market for fresh goods, but there's no nearby supermarket. If there's a strong west wind, you'll have to learn the Fernandina technique of getting off the dock, the dockhands will teach you.

One of the five best marinas on the ICW. Docking is easy on the lone facedock for transients. WiFi that works, fuel, and pump-out are available as well as free laundry. The on-site restaurant is outstanding (Zachry's Riverhouse), be sure not to miss it! There's a swimming pool for use by transients but the big attraction is Jekyll Island. The marina provides free golf carts and bicycles for exploring the area which is another must-do activity, the island is beautiful and the ocean beach is nearby. The golf carts and bicycles have their own paved paths all over the island. There's a small grocery store in town for provisioning. The island is home to many summer mansions that are open for tours. The owners care about their customers and when the restaurant was closed one day due to lack of staff (covid), he staged a cookout at no charge, and fun was had by all.

The anchorage is large enough for dozens of boats and is outside the Georgia anchoring restricted area. The holding is excellent and there's a sandy beach for pet relief by R156 that's above water at all tide levels. This is a very convenient stop for us between Savannah and Jekyll Island.

This is not your typical marina. The showers and bathrooms are not up to typical marina quality. However, the location is just right, between Savannah and Jekyll Island. The place used to be a plantation and the live oaks are stunning to see. There's a restaurant on site but not open every day, call ahead. They sell fuel and have WiFi but only if you dock at the end of the facedock closest to the travellift. The WiFi fades farther away. The docks are homemade but sturdy enough. They will rock as you walk along, take care. They just installed new electrical boxes for boat power and water is also available. If you enjoy rustic surroundings with beautiful, huge live oaks, it's for you.

Thunderbolt has one long facedock for transients although those staying longer may be put on the land side of the facedock. The docks are very high so hang your fenders according. They have fuel but most importantly, they serve Krispy Kreme donuts every morning right to your boat (you'll be asked when you arrive if you want them). They have bus service to Savannah if desired and there are several restaurants within walking distance, most notably, Tubby's Tank House - don't miss the chance to eat there.

This is one of the premier marinas on the ICW. You enter the marina via a lock (the approach is 4.5 MLLW so time the tide if you need more) and once inside there is zero current. You're surrounded by lovely homes with many areas to walk with your dog. The South Carolina Yacht Club is located in the marina and you don't want to miss a chance to dine inside or out on the porch. The service is excellent and the yacht club is welcoming. There are no services other than the restaurant nearby. The WiFi is OnSpotWiFi so it works very well.

The marina is located on a creek, away from the ICW so there are no wakes, very quiet. There's a restaurant nearby that attracts boaters who sometimes tie up at a dock belonging to Lady's Island. That can be a problem if it's your slip for the night and the staff has gone home (after 5:00). So if you're arriving late, be sure to call ahead to ensure your slip is not occupied by a boat going to the restaurant next door. We came in late one night in a driving rain after hours and saw an empty dock but it had signs "dangerous to dock, not operational" all over the dock. It was Lady's Island's way of reserving the dock for their customers and warding off restauranters. The marina has a courtesy car for use by transients.

The current is swift here, 1 to 2 kts at times, so you must plan ahead carefully if you are assigned an inside slip. The current swirls a bit so you must be careful when leaving, especially when backing out. The town is great to explore and there are many restaurants to sample. The marina used to have a courtesy car but it was discontinued when the marina was purchased by Safe Harbor. Too bad, it was a great convenience.

There are only two docks and sometimes only one. Lately, they've been full of local traffic so you cannot always get a slip. The dockage is only $30/night for any size boat with electricity. However, the docks are rough and not in the best shape. It's a convenient stop waiting for tide at Ashepoo-Coosaw. The attraction other than the location is the fresh shrimp. It's right off the boat. Call ahead if you headed in to be sure and reserve a pound or two, they sometimes sell out. Follow the Bob423 red track to find the deepest water at the entrance to the creek - Navionics SonarChart also shows the best water. The NOAA charts are off in this area.

I anchored here one time when the dock at B&B Seafood was full. It deepens around the bend to 25 ft but I put out about 100 feet and was fine, the holding was very good. The current will point you parallel to shore - which might seem a little close but it's deep up to the edge. There is a public ramp for getting ashore although you can use the docks by B&B Seafood, they don't mind - especially if you buy their fresh shrimp which is not to be missed! Take a stroll around the area, you're in the deep south here.

This is our favorite marina in Charleston. It's within walking distance to downtown and only three blocks from Harris Teeter, a huge supermarket. We always provision here. On the downside, the marina is exposed to wakes from passing traffic, it doesn't bother us but does bother some people. If you arrive at anything other than slack tide, be sure to pay close attention to maneuvering in your slip, the current can catch you if you're not careful. On a positive note, the dockhands are experienced in docking boats and they've been excellent. The WiFi is average, usable. They have ice, showers, and a Captain's lounge. Be sure to explore the dozens of restaurants within walking distance in Charleston, a delight! There's also a large Apple store for those wishing to explore that option.

One of our favorite anchorages. It's conveniently placed about halfway between Georgetown and Charleston which is good for timing the tides for the shallow areas. We anchor in 10 ft of water and are set for the night. We take our dog to the north shore of the ICW at the entrance to the anchorage. There's a sandy beach there accessible at all tide levels. There is plenty of room, enough for 100 boats. We've had no problem with holding but we have seen two boats up on shore so just be sure to set your anchor. You will have small fishing boats zoom by in the early morning hours but not many.

Osprey is one of the real gems of the ICW. It's a hurricane hole, fully protected from wind and waves. It can be tight if you go all the way in and not use the long face dock but there's no current so mostly no problem, just take your time. Osprey is one of the few marinas still offering a welcome bag along with one of the lowest rates on the ICW. You can have breakfast in the clubhouse area with provided snacks and mingle with the rest of the cruisers - a unique experience. They have fuel, pump out, and a very welcoming staff.

St James is one of the true hurricane holes on the ICW. The basin is surrounded by a 13 foot high burm, on top of which are three story houses. It's like a wall around the marina. We stayed here when hurricane Matthew passed over the top of us (we were in the eye) and suffered no damage. They have fuel, pump out, ice, laundry, excellent OnSpotWiFi, and a small marine store. There's a small on-site restaurant but nothing else is nearby.

The moorings are excellent! The leads are coiled around the top of the mooring so they don't collect barnacles and stay clean. A dinghy dock for the mooring field is by the southern most mooring for a walk into town. The field has 360 protection from waves and is in a no wake zone. Fees are collected over Dockwa so be sure you're going to use the mooring before paying. I was unable to get a refund one time when my plans changed early in the afternoon one day.

The marina has installed new fixed docks but the pilings are outside the dock planking to an extent that there's a huge step from the boat down to the dock which does not start until you're past the diameter of the pilings. If you're tied up with 10 inch fenders against the pilings, you have to leap about 1.5 to 2 feet to reach the dock. That's not so bad until the tide comes in and you're faced with not only the nearly 2 ft leap horizontal leap but also the 2 ft drop from your boat to the dock. My wife could not get off the boat and I had to carry the dog on and off the boat - it was too big a leap. Pay attention to closing time, they don't stay late. They do have a small store for odds and ends but the difficulty in getting on and off the boat ruined the marina for us. The marina is otherwise functional.

Homer Smith is an example of what all marinas should be. The floating docks are new, you will have help docking, they have a fuel and pump-out dock, two courtesy cars at no charge, outstanding WiFi by OnSpotWiFi, protected 360 from wind and waves, no current, free washer and dryer, free ice, and within three blocks of downtown Beaufort, NC with many restaurants. They are in the process of building a new Captain's Lounge with a large panel TV and more. The crew is very helpful and welcoming.

RE Mayo is a great place to get frozen seafood for stocking your freezer. They have local shrimp, scallops, and flounder in vacuum blister packs. They also have non-local fish and on some days, fresh shrimp. We always stop here to reload our freezer. The docks are not for the faint of heart - they are in various stages of disrepair but they are sturdy since they service 60 ft shrimp boats. The 30 amp electric service may or may not be operational and there're no bathrooms or showers but then it's only $0.30/ft! The WiFi is operational which is good since the Verizon signal is very poor. They have an outstanding marine hardware store although it's aimed at the 60 ft shrimp boat crowd. If you dock close to the office, lay your fenders vertically. If you dock at the southern docks, lay them horizontally. You will usually not get help docking, you're on your own.

This marina is what defines a 5 star rating. It has a heated swimming pool, three courtesy cars (!), propane refill, good WiFi, 7/11 type convenience store for supplies, rebuilt fixed docks, excellent dockhands, pump out at your boat, free(!) washers and dryers, captain's lounge with large panel TV, and a pet walking area. The owner has plans to add more slips and to provide protection from strong southeast winds (the only direction waves can enter). There is a large restaurant under construction that's due for completion by the fall of 2022. The owners live on-site and are gracious and helpful. You won't find a better marina that checks all the boxes for a 5 start rating.

The marina is a facedock with a few fixed slips next to a gas station. We usually refuel here and take a facedock (hang fenders horizontally). The WiFi works and the marina is very protected from waves although you're exposed to the wind. They have laundry facilities but we've had problems with getting laundry dry there. We no longer do laundry at this marina. The facedocks are easier to use but there's an additional charge and you must reserve them in advance. The entrance will shoal over time and has to be periodically dredged. In the fall of 2021, the minimum depth was 5.9 ft at the entrance, deeper inside.

It's THE place to stop on the way to and from Albemarle Sound. There's easy access to fuel and a pump-out but the real attraction is the restaurant, we always have the prime rib. I wouldn't recommend topping off your water tanks due to the tannic in the well water lending a brownish hue to the water (we topped off once). The WiFi works and they have a limited laundry area.<br /> <br /> Have your fenders hanging horizontally since you will be against pilings. The dockhands are excellent but they will pack you within a few feet of the boat ahead and behind you. If you trail a dinghy, you may be asked to tie it to the channel side of your boat. There's no courtesy car and there's nothing nearby.

Closer to the bridge, there's a small memorial park honoring one of the revolutionary war battles. <br /> <br /> On certain days of the week during summer (it varies) they may have a band playing with food wagons that can be fun. <br /> <br /> The docks are fixed with pilings so be sure to hang your fenders horizontally. If there are other boats there, you will usually have help but with no current and good wind protection, it's not a problem to dock without help. Please be courteous and group boats with 10 ft or so of space between them so more boats can use this great facility.

The marina is located off the ICW and is quiet with very few wakes. We had help docking and when I asked for ice, he brought 10 lbs to the boat. <br /> <br /> You sign-in at the main clubhouse which has extensive dining facilities you're free to use. The WiFi works and they have a fuel dock which we used during our last visit. Pets are fine with a walk area off to the south side of the facility. <br /> <br /> There's no courtesy car and nothing nearby that I could find but it makes a nice stopover that's near the Chesapeake, convenient for us.

The bridge is being replaced by a 65 ft high bridge but in the meantime, one leaf has been left in the down position (on the port side when heading south). You only have half the normal width to pass through, Take great caution. The leaf that's left down is not visible when heading north.

An example is given below.<br /> <br /> "Around 11am today Tuesday the Kingsley Creek RR bridge closed and was unable to open. We arrived around 11:30 and anchored along with two other southbound boats, for one hour. Workers got it open and we passed through. There is 13 MLLW in the middle of the channel. The reviewer was out of the channel. "Hugging the greens" as the reviewer suggests is exactly the wrong strategy. Stay in the middle of the channel per the magenta line or the Bob423 track.<br /> <br /> There is a sideways current in this area that can sweep you out of the channel - just follow your chartplotter and stay in the middle.

I just got off the phone with Darrell on the dredge WILKO currently at Lockwoods Folly: <br /> - Lockwoods Folly dredging should be completed by 3/12/2021<br /> - Then he will dredge Shallotte at MM 329<br /> - Then the crossroads just north of Beaufort, NC at MM 201 where the ICW and the route to Beaufort split by R30A. He already has another dredge doing that section now. <br /> - Then Topsail by G99A at MM 270 Hopefully, all of the above would be done by 4/30/2021. <br /> He's also sizing the cost of doing the ICW by Spooner Creek at MM 210 between G11 and G13 (that would include the worst part of that stretch just south of Beaufort, NC by R12A and R10A). The contract he's on way run out of money for the Spooner Creek dredging section. <br />

I've used this anchorage for years but it's tricky getting in since the western entrance to Caesars Creek only has 3.8 MLLW but with a 1.3 ft high tide, I can get my 4' 9" sailboat in without touching bottom. I closely follow a GPX route to get in which can be downloaded at http://bob423.com/gpx/BCaesars.gpx<br /> <br /> We use the ranger station docks to take our dog ashore. I've met the ranger many times, he has a dog too that's friendly. Just pick up after your pet. There are picnic tables for your use if you desire.

Nobody on the Facebook forum passing through here reported any shoaling at all by R22A - and we have a lot of boats going north now. There was a bad shoal here two years ago that has since been dredged. The USACE survey of 1/16/2020 shows 12 MLLW by R22A. The same survey shows 0.7 MLLW if you pass R22A on the wrong side.

This is my favorite marina in Charleston. It’s within walking distance to downtown and all the shops as well as within two blocks of a Harris Teeter supermarket. The hardware store by Harris Teeter is no more, oh well. The laundry is free and there’s WiFi some of the time; it’s not great. <br /> <br /> The marina can get rolly in an east wind, it’s not protected from that direction. Presently, it’s very noisy from pounding in a steel foundation for a new museum. I would not recommend the marina until the building is completed.

There are some marinas that are icons on the ICW and Osprey Marina is at the top of the list of places you want to stop at. The first attraction is the price, only $1.00/ft! Furthermore, if you stay more than three days, then for the fourth day on, the price drops to $0.26/ft! Pump out is free and the price of diesel was only $2.649/gal, taxes included. <br /> <br /> The docks are new ipe lumber, first-rate and they even have a welcome package consisting of locally made pepper jelly, a clip for closing opened bags, an insulated holder for drinks, pecan twirls, honey bun, and even a whistle. They have well-kept showers and two washers and two dryers with a table to fold laundry on. The WiFi is free, of course, and I've measured 10 Mbps at my boat.<br /> <br /> On top of everything else, it's surrounded by trees that give the best protection from storms as anywhere on the east coast, zero fetch and very little wind action. Honestly, is there any better marina for the value on the east coast? I can see why the place is always so full.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, we passed through Lockwoods Folly and Shallotte this afternoon with no problems following the GPX routes, at least 8 MLLW in the shallowest spots. I uploaded today's track for others to follow if they want.

Government Cut is sometimes closed to pleasure craft when large ships come in. The Coast Guard will announce the closing on VHF16. You’re not to enter the channel until it’s announced open at a later time. In our 16 passes through the inlet, it’s been closed twice, each time we were the last boat through before closing.

I use this anchorage every time I travel the ICW. It breaks up the trip between two shallow areas: Isle of Palms and McClellanville since it’s hard to get through both areas the same day on a high tide. <br /> <br /> I can take Hoolie, my dog, back to the entrance to a pebble beach across the ICW for relief. There’s room for a hundred boats without getting crowded in 10 ft water. The anchor comes up clean in the morning but holds well during the night.

St James is a hurricane hole of the first order, nothing better. It’s surrounded by three story houses built on 15 ft high mound (from digging out the harbor), very protected. We survived Hurricane Matthew tied up here, no problems. <br /> <br /> The wifi is OnSpotWiFi, good and fast. There’s laundry and a small restaurant and deli store on site for incidentals. The docks are floating secure. Southport is nearby but lots of restaurants but you will need transportation.

The main attraction is the National Monument that is free to visit. They have nature walks on wooden trails and a free tour of the fort. You can dinghy over to the park on the north side and beach your dinghy in the sand. You are not allowed to use the dock or land on the South Island; it’s off limits. <br /> <br /> You can continue onward in your dinghy and spend time at the beach on the Atlantic side.

We usually winter over in Key West and Titusville is a good halfway stop to leave our boat for the holidays before returning to resume our trip south after New Years Day. <br /> <br /> For us it’s a perfect fit with a dog park for Hoolie, good running areas, easy access to rental cars, and a good location if people want to visit you on your boat (Kennedy Space Center, Disney World, Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, and more).<br /> <br /> Tom, the manager of the marina, keeps an eye out on everything and keeps all in working order. A big plus is the security gates on the entrance to each dock with a badge lock, no sharing of combinations like other marinas. The WiFi is professionally installed and distributed dot each dock with three transmitters each, it works. To round things out, there are three commercial grade washers and dryers and at $1.50 per use, a bargain.

I measured the height at 64 feet when I passed through on 4/17/18 at 11:25:25 with a 2.3 feet tide. At a 0.0 tide, the height would be 66.3 feet but at a high tide of 3.2 feet, it would only be 63.1 feet.

I just confirmed with the bridge operator. The bridge cannot open. It’s down at least until tomorrow, probably longer. They had to remove a part. The operator doesn’t know the details.

Update: As of this evening (2/6) Las Olas bridge is in limited operation. They are generally opening only one span at each lift, and maintenance is still working on the bridge so the tender needs to coordinate each lift with them. I suggest you give the bridge a bit more advance warning if you need a lift, and be prepared to go through a single span.

Everybody stops here, it's very popular. It's a family run business since 1950 and they've always been helpful in docking. The approach can be shallow if you get too close to the sea wall, be sure to stay off by 30 ft for 6.0 MLW. Be sure to tell them your draft since some of the slips are shallow. They have commercial grade washers and dryers. The WiFi is spotty and will overload with when everybody is using it. The cellphone signal is excellent.

If you belong to a recognized yacht club, they will offer one night's free stay with electricity and water. It is a beautiful facility and we stop here every year. Just call before you arrive to be sure there's room and to find out which dock to use. They now have new floating docks.

The attraction of this marina is the location close to downtown Hampton with many fine restaurants. The Virginia Air and Space Museum is not to be missed. It also has an iMax. <br /> <br /> They have one washer and one dryer at $2 per load. The fingers are only 1/2 length and you will need help getting in since you’re coming in at right angles to the river current. <br /> <br /> If you stay often, then consider the option to join their cruising club which lowers the price to 1$/ft with every fourth day free.

Excellent marina but be prepared to be tightly packed in bow to stern and during busy times, you may be asked to let a boat tie up alongside. On the other hand, we had no problems. Our dinghy was under the bow of the boat behind us. On the other hand, we had no problems and the dockhands tied us off well. It’s a gas station with marina slips. However, the marina is very protected from any wave action by two long jetties. It was secure enough that I chose to ride out Hurricane Michael here tied to the bulkhead, we did fine. <br /> <br /> They have a small restaurant inside that cooks to order. I would recommend sampling the ice cream cones, very good. <br /> <br /> Miss Wanda is no longer there, she sold the marina to the present owners. The dock hand does a good job with your lines. They have washers and dryers. There is nothing else nearby.<br /> <br /> A big plus is outstanding WiFi! I measured 40 Mbps!

Now that its been dredged, you can anchor anywhere. You might want to avoid the area in front of the creek(where the small bridge is). There’s enough current there that you’ll go around in circles at night, coming close to the other boats that don’t move.

The dock is first rate, the current can be strong and make it challenging to dock. On the good side, the current is parallel to the docks so it’s doable. On occasion I’ve even backed in when I wanted to be pointed out the next day. There’s not much room to turn around.<br /> <br /> The bathrooms are sometimes open and sometimes not, depending on the season. I’ve never found them open during migration time. It’s an excellent area for pets, lots of room to walk in the adjacent park. One time I even rafted since the docks were full, no problem. The inside of the dock can also be used for docking but only the end 40 ft or so.

Milford is one of our favorite stops. The ice cream shop right behind the marina office is one of the best anywhere on the east coast! Don’t miss it. <br /> <br /> The dockhands are always available to help and there’s a dock for free pumpout. The marina next door (Milford Boat Works) has a super marine store the equal of any and they will come to your boat if you need repairs, they are excellent. <br /> <br /> There are almost a dozen restaurants in town that will give you a 10 to 15% discount by showing your docking receipt. They have one washer and one dryer. The facilities are always well decorated with flowers of all kinds. In short, a pleasant stay.

There is anchorage all along the north shore. The water is deeper than charted and the holding very good. The beach has small pebbles but it’s good for pet relief (we always pick up). A sandier beach is located closer to the entrance. It is a no wake zone honored by most boats but you will be rocked when the ferries come and go. It’s calm at night. There is a free town dock down the cut directly south with a butcher shop and a 7/11 type store for essentials.

There is 360 protection in the anchorage. There are trees along the edge to break the wind somewhat. The dinghy dock at the head of the anchorage is gone. The pier out to where the docks used to be is still there but the floating docks need to be returned. You can still get to shore using the boat ramps but it’s not as convenient.<br /> <br /> It’s a short walk of less than two blocks into town where there are many shops and restaurants. There is a 7/11 type store a little farther next to a laundromat and even a supermarket about 1/2 mile farther along the main road heading west. <br /> <br /> Today, we are the only boat in the anchorage. I’m seeing 80 Mbps over Verizon LTE.

We’ve been coming to Brewers Bruce and Johnson for over 20 years. The outstanding feature is their first class pool. There is no better way to entertain grandkids than a day at the pool. <br /> <br /> They also do excellent work. I had an exhaust elbow replaced, no problem. The docks are first rate floating concrete and the dockhands are always available. <br /> <br /> Although there is a good restaurant on site, there’s nothing like Lenny's just down the street for fried clams and seafood; they are world famous and have been reviewed in The NY Times. Do not miss Lenny's.

This review is for the moorings. The Town of North Hempstead maintains 20 moorings for transient use for 48 hours at no charge. The moorings are bright yellow in color with a pennant with a loop at the end suitable for going over a cleat. They also have a free dinghy dock on the north side of the town pier (the Waterway Guide icon is on the south side). Farther to the north is another dinghy dock close to a supermarket. If you stay longer than 48 hrs, then there is a $25/day charge. <br /> <br /> In town are numerous restaurants and delis, ice is available at the deli. The is a launch service at $4/ head, per trip if you don’t want to use your dinghy or $25/boat per day for unlimited trips.<br /> <br /> The moorings are sometimes called, Port Washington Free Moorings, a name change over the last two years. They are the same 20 moorings.

The anchorage has a line of trees to the north that offers some protection from a northern wind. The holding is good and there are two sandy beaches for landing a dog. One at high tide on the north shore and one a low tide farther east. There are beautiful sunsets here and no lights at night.

The marina is pretty basic. They have one, long facedock for transients. It's a convenient staging area for Hell Gate when going north. If you don't hit the tides right, you can stop over here and get in sync. The area is actually quite scenic. It used to be a plantation and there are the biggest live oak trees I've ever seen, dozens.

Hinckley is the premier service center of Savannah. This is where to get your boat work done. They are determined to satisfy you in every way. I've had service here on my diesel to replace a rear oil seal and they were on my boat minutes after I docked and ordered the spare part that same day. I would recommend this marina without reservation for any type of marine repairs.

Great location to explore downtown, Beaufort. The only drawback is the current. They prefer smaller boats (under 45') to be on the inside of the facedock. The current swirls a bit on the inside and we almost came to grief (the previous boat almost did too) when I tried to back out against the current. If you're on the outside of the facedock, it's not a problem.

The attraction is the shrimp. They have a shrimp boat that goes out and shrimp can usually be bought fresh off the boat. They have room for two boats and charge only $25/night flat rate. Be prepared to dock into the current and handle your own lines, you most likely will not get help. There is no electric or water on the dock. If the dock is full, you can anchor nearby around the bend in the creek and dinghy into their dock to get shrimp or for pet relief.

We anchored here once since a public dock was shown on shore. We were greeted with strong current all night, up to 3 kts or more. We're told it can reach 6 kts in a spring tide. It's just too much current, we will not anchor here again. There is some feedback that the dock is no longer public but that is not certain.

They have a courtesy car for your use for 2 hours. Their laundry facilities include four washers and four dryers, all spin types and new. The docks are ipe wood and in good shape. They have a captain's lounge with a full sized pool table for use by those docking. You can also rent a car from Enterprise, they will pick you up. There can be current to spice up your docking, have your lines ready, they will meet you at your dock.

The location here is everything. It's a two block walk to a great supermarket, Harris Teeter, and downtown is only another two blocks with no worries about parking a car (since you're walking). They have two free washers and two free dryers. The only downside are wakes from passing boats or from a southeast wind. I don't mind but others may. The marina is currently closed due to hurricane damage but is due to reopen in the fall of 2018, we hope.

A good place to stage before the shallows of Isle of Palms. It's very well protected and they will provide a free ride to the nearest supermarket. Early in the morning, you may be jostled by the passage of fishing boats.

I use this anchorage all the time. It's convenient for staging for tide through the shallow areas. There is shore access for pets at an oyster pile at the eastern end of the anchorage at any time other than high tide. At extreme high tides, there is shore access by the entrance and if that is not to your liking, there are public docks about a mile down the ICW towards Charleston.

We prefer to stay here whenever possible. It's a very convenient fuel stop, but their transient dock space is very limited. The WiFi is okay but spotty. Be sure to visit Independent Seafood for fresh fish to take onboard.

I use this marina when I can't get one downtown. It's fine but it's exposed to a south wind which can make the long facedock uncomfortable. The walk into town is amost a mile but the marina does have loaner bicycles to use.

This is a super marina. It's the marina associated with the surrounding condos. It is completely protected 360 by three story condos from wind. It's on a short canal into the marina so there no wave action. they have washers and dryers and the facilities are first rate.

We counted nine town moorings when we were there in May of 2018. There have been upgraded considerably since last time. The pennants are stored on top of the mooring ball to keep them clean. You must pay for the mooring ball through DOCKWA by reservation over the internet which is actually very convenient. There's no trip into a dock office required. There is a dinghy dock by the southmost mooring ball where you can take a two block walk to the ocean beach and pass by a 7/11 type store on the way.

It a working dock and they have shrimp boats and off-shore fishing boats come in all the time. Fresh shrimp is usually available and other varieties of fish. It's a great stop.

The anchorage is a good alternative if RE Mayo is full. It has good all-around protection and you can find shore access for your dog by entering one of the mosquito canals and barging up against the band to let the dog out on dry ground.

The marina is a working shrimp dock and the facilities are raw. The dock is substantial but you have to be careful in stepping due to stuff on the docks. The attraction is the low price of $0.40/ft and the great protection from wind and waves (you won't notice any at the docks). There is only one 30A outlet and if any more boats tried to use the 20A with a converter, then no one has electricity. They have a great marine supply store and a large selection of flash frozen seafood (shrimp, scallops, and flounder). There are no baths or restrooms unless you count the two outhouses gaily decorated out front. <br /> <br /> We use the stop because it's convenient, cheap, protected, and a good place to stock up on seafood for your freezer.

The great advantage of this marina is the location. There are anchorages nearby but then you risk fuzzy bills. If you happen to hit an anchorage during spawning, your boat will be covered in green slime. <br /> <br /> The marina is a filling station with docks and a small restaurant. The internet works and the people are friendly and refueling is easy with usually good prices. Don't miss getting an ice cream cone before they close at night.

Excellent marina but be prepared to be tightly packed in bow to stern. Our dinghy was under the bow of the boat behind us. On the other hand, we had no problems and the dockhands tied us off well. Of course, you have to try the famous rib steaks at the restaurant but be sure to make reservations in advance. There is nothing else nearby. The WiFi is fine.

The anchorage is totally protected. The bottom is thick mud which you'll find on your anchor in the morning. When I weighed anchor, it was just a round ball of mud. I have a washdown pump at the bow for just such an occasion and it did the job. There is pet relief on the north shore by a 10 ft high clift with a sandy beach; just pick up after use. The sunsets are beautiful here, but there's nothing nearby for supplies.

This is just the perfect combination of a quiet anchorage, and yet shore access to stores for groceries and West Marine. The shore access is provided by Holiday Inn which charges $2/day for the use of their dinghy dock, a bargain. They also sell ice and it's a short walk to a 7/11 type store. A full sized supermarket is only a 15 minute walk down the sidewalk.

We anchor by Flat Island for access to pet relief. The anchorage is totally protected and one of the problems is in thinking that the conditions at the anchorage represent the conditions on the bay - not so - as I found out several times. The wind can be 5 kts in the anchorage while it's blowing 20 to 30 out in the bay, I have experienced that! Otherwise, great sunsets, wildlife, calm, just a perfect anchorage.

With the completion of dredging May 2018, the anchorage has returned as a prime stopover point for cruisers going north or south. Shore access is provided by a free dinghy dock next to town and another one at the eastern end of the anchorage.The anchorage can get crowded during peak migration time but we've never had a problem by just using short scope. Ice is available at the nearby marina and the town has several restaurants of interest along with a great ice cream shop.

We anchor behind the island at the entrance but it is deep! We typically find a 25 to 35 MLW for dropping the hook. The island has a sandy beach for pet relief which is a requirement for us with a dog. The island will provide some protection from large ship wakes but not from local fishermen or crabbers going out early in the morning. Be prepared for strong current. The attraction of this anchorage is the location about half-way between Cape May and Chesapeake City. It's the only stopping over point available near the halfway point.

Everybody stops here, it's very popular. It's a family run business since 1950 and they've always been helpful in docking. The approach can be shallow, I saw 4.5 MLW on the way in on May 2018 but the bottom is soft mud. Be sure to tell them your draft since some of the slips are shallow. They have commercial grade washers and dryers. The WiFi is spotty and will overload with when everybody is using it. The cellphone signal is excellent.

We always stop here coming down the New Jersey coast. It is totally protected and you're assured of a good night's sleep. The band is loud if you're close to the deck but they stop around 11:00 so it doesn't bother us. If you belong to Marina Life, you get a 25% discount Sun-Thurs but not Sat or Sun. <br /> <br /> The great advantage of this marina for me is the excellent security with locked gates and a security guard is always in view. Don't forget to have dinner at the Chart House.

This is a very popular anchorage on weekend, up to 100 boats, but less crowded during the week. Although you can't take a motorized dinghy to the shore by the swimming area, you can beach the dinghy east of the area beyond the swimming signs. It's protected from the south and east but wakes are plentiful during the day, especially on weekends.

Just stay in the channel between the red and green markers and you will have no problems. Before transiting, call ahead on VHF 16 to see if there is commercial traffic coming. Some barges take up the entire width of the channel so plan ahead.

There room for a half dozen boats in 8 to 10 ft of water. The anchorage is best for winds out of the north, it's rocky with a south wind. There is shore access at the public dock by the anchorage. The nearby restaurant, The Old Key Lime House, has a dinghy dock if you eat there (no pets allowed at the restaurant). We anchored just to the west of the wreck marked on the chart (we passed right over the mark, no change in reading).

This review is for the mooring field. I cannot image anchoring here, there's no room given the way the moorings are placed. You use the Las Olas marina for services which is under construction but they have a temporary building which is entirely adequate with six washers and six dryers. The dinghy dock is under the bridge. The boats have to slow down for the bridge so you don't get much wake but the bridge is noisy in opening and closing. If you rent a car, they will give you a free parking permit.

We've anchored here a dozen times. The holding is secure and protected 360 if you snug up into the southeast end. There is a sandy beach to land your dinghy on the north side and a running trail. We get ice at the marina on the south side of the anchorage which is also a restaurant. There's plenty of room to anchor so you never feel crowded. The area is also used by sailing clubs training for Olympic and other sailing events which are fun to watch. You can approach either side of the island an anchor in 8 to 10 ft of water. The view at night of the Miami skyline is stunning.

I've anchored here a half dozen times over the last eight years. I drop the hook on the 6 ft line heading into Mariner's Club Marina which is away from Rodriguez Key and any protection it might offer so I only use this anchorage in winds less than 10 kts. Any higher winds and the night can be bouncy.<br /> <br /> I have a dog aboard and I use the public ramp next to Mandalay Marina to land my dinghy. From where I anchor, it's about a 1/2 mile ride to the boat ramp. I have a 66 lbs Spade anchor, never a problem being secure at night.

The problem here is finding a spot. It is usually very crowded and although the holding is good if you have good ground tackle, some of the boats do not and therein lies the problem. I've anchored here many times and usually it's okay but in a wind change with gusts, you can find a boat dragging into you. It's happened to me twice in five years. Also, a couple of years ago, the city marina raised all the rates for shore access to the same as for a mooring so if you want shore access, you don't save any money by anchoring. <br /> <br /> On the other hand, it has excellent protection from wave action and if you don't need shore access, then it's cheap. The anchorage area extends closer to the southern shore than shown on charts, almost to the green stuff.

The floating docks are a great addition but they were full so we stayed at the fixed docks; not as great but okay. They were concrete and not forgiving, you had to be very careful in docking. They have a new fuel house with everything in tip-top shape. If you chose the side of the fixed docks facing the setting sun, you will be charged a "sunset fee" to be added on to your dockage.

I would rate the mooring field the best I've ever seen. They will even pump out your boat if you happen to be away when they do your area. The hurricane did damage for sure but the moorings are fine and they moved the dinghy dock to the alleyway by the dockhouse. The clubhouse looks as good as new and everything is functional. If you chose to anchor out instead of taking a mooring, you will be charged the same rate if you want to use their dinghy dock.

Ted, I haven't seen anybody watching restrictions on travel in the area. It's thick with schooner day trips, sunset cruises - very busy. I personally to a ride out the Calda Channel inlet, a twisting, curving path to the gulf and even that was clear. I took Fleetwing out twice and never saw anybody paying any attention to restrictions. The area was thick with boats cruising around. I think this alert has served its purpose.

This is a great stop over on the ICW! I have a 42 ft boat and I’ve stopped here many times for the fixed rate charge of $33. The entrance has shoaled in the past two years to 4.7 MLLW but there’s 5.5 MLLW by the first face dock. There are lots of trails to explore and one washer and one dryer next to the small store that also services the RV park. I’ve seen 46 ft boats dock here.

The attraction of this marina is access to Surf City which has a grocery store and many restaurants. Don’t expect any help docking unless it’s from another boater. I’ve never met the dockmaster, he’s always requested payment over the phone. The docks are nice enough and it’s protected from all wakes and waves.

The marina has very little to recommend except location. We’ve used it several times in order to get past Camp Lejeume conveniently. We always take the outside facedock since the inside is shoaled to 3 ft MLLW. You’re subject to the wakes of passing boats, especially on weekends.

It's a place to stop if it fits your schedule, nothing special. You had better have confidence in your ground tackle since there's a low bridge ready to catch you if you drag. As for me, I've never had a problem but I have a 66 lb Spade with 3/8 inch chain. I anchor right across from the free dinghy dock to take my dog into shore.

I've used this anchorage every year for the past eight on my trips down the ICW. The secret is to go farther in where you get good protection from a south wind. Anchor towards the south shore and east of the 5 ft line as shown on the charts. It is deeper than the charts indicate, about 7 ft as you snug up behind the point of land to protect you from a south wind. There is a strip of sand on the south shore for pet relief. Be sure to pick up when done. Big shrimp boats use this harbor all the time.

It's just a place to stop. Beware of "fuzzy bills" during the season. I stopped here once and woke up to a boat covered with thousands of dead fuzzy bills leaving a green slime that took hours to clean off. They look just like mosquitoes but don't bite.

There is one long face dock with enough room for 4 to 6 boats depending upon how close together they moor. The dock is located next to a park where you can walk your dog or just have a relaxing walk. There are no services here, just a dock but it's in excellent shape.
