Beautiful spot, well protected, deep water, good holding, anchor set quickly and came up with only a little mud on it.

This Anchorage is an anchor minefield! There's something on the bottom that's hard, very hard, could be rocks, could be concrete, could be coral, could be a submerged building, but whatever it is, it's hard. My anchor set immediately and violently, and then all night long as my boat moved around the chain scraped over whatever it was, and made a heckuva noise inside the boat.
In the morning as we were leaving, we noticed one boat pulled their anchor up and it had a long lost anchor chain from some other boat, which took them quite a while to get off their anchor.
We read the warnings and stayed away from the areas that were supposed to have Items that could be snagged. Make sure you have a way to get your anchor off should it become snag.
Two positive things I can say about this Anchorage is that it did protect us from the wind (out of the north) and we did see two manatees very early in the morning.

Beautiful anchorage. Good holding. Easy stop between Fort Myers and the Keys. No Verizon nor T-Mobile nor antenna TV. Plenty of room.

Easy entry right at the river mouth. Deep in the middle but gets shallow fast. Do a little depth sounding tour before you set your anchor or you may swing into shallow water and be aground when the tide goes out.

We set our anchor in 14' and swung into an 8' on 100' of chain. (5:1 for us because of bowsprit height).

Very picturesque and isolated. No cell service whatsoever.

Great place to stop on way south to the Keys. Spent 3 wonderful days waiting on better weather.

For us, this location was great as far as protection from the NE wind we were ducking, and the waves that went along with it, but there was no land for miles to take the dogs for a break.
The scenery was beautiful, the stars at night were awe inspiring.
This was a very easy in and out anchorage, and was great for an overnight stop.

The sunny, wide-open, blue water of the Gulf gave way to the murkier water at the mouth of this river right in Everglades National Park. Confident there is as much life in these swamp-fed, river-delta waters, I found myself looking down into the water, only able to imagine the activity. We found ourselves marveling at being in this amazing, remote place, so near busy civilization. The blackness of the night fully engulfed our little bay and the stars were staggeringly plentiful and lavish. Not too many people get to see this as it's pretty remote and isolated. So it's definitely a spot worth seeing.
We found ourselves standing on the deck, looking up in awe at how many stars filled the sky. Reluctantly, we finally went to bed, but as soon as we got up the next morning, we again tried to take it all in and found ourselves appreciating this place in the morning sun just as much as we did under the blanket of stars.

We draw 5' and access was very easy. Bugs were not bad in October, but deployed hatch screens. Enough room for 5-6 boats to anchor comfortably. Lots of mangrove shoreline and easy to access. Great place to be anchored "in the middle of nowhere". Some fishing traffic with minor wake. If staying for several days likely use Bahamian moor to keep anchor from fouling with rode.
