Calm and safe overnight, but boat was cover with 1000s of small dead bugs this morning. Yuck. Anchor came up clean.

anchor caught quickly in 10 feet, one other boat in anchorage tonight, Sep 7, 2023. Not much protection from wind. No traffic in ICW other than one small fishing boat.

Our second or third time anchoring here. Plenty of room to swing for lots of boats.

The water is pretty deep here and gets deeper as you travel back in the creek. Room for several boats. We came in at low tide and had no issues. We had a light East wind so it didn't matter but would be a problem if it blew hard

Anchored here in 10 ft. Good holding in 15 kts of east winds. 4 boats here with lots of room. T mobile service got better when the sun went down. The mosquitos were horrendous.

Deep, open, and exposed (surrounded by marsh grass and some trees), but very nice in calm conditions.

Leave the AICW halfway between R 22 and R 24 and turn north into the South Santee River in 12 feet of water MLLW and proceed north to the anchorage, favoring the east side of the river slightly for best depth. We anchored 0.3 miles off the AICW in 10 feet of water MLLW. The anchor set immediately and held well through the night. We set scope to include the known 4 foot tide and 2 mph current. The anchor came up with thick mud on the last bit of chain and the anchor. Wind protection is poor but there is little fetch so there were no waves to speak of. Winds were from the west at 15 mph and the boat lay between the tidal current and the wind, giving us good ventilation through the boat. There were no crab pots in the area to worry about and room for 10+ 40 foot boats. The river width is sufficient to anchor up to and even beyond the icon.

Perhaps it was because it was a Monday, but there was no boat traffic at all during our stay. There was no place to go to shore in the vicinity and the reports of alligators (we saw two large ones) meant that Fido was happy to stay on board. Cell reception was only fair for the three majors but, considering that the anchorage is really in the middle of nowhere, it was understandable. Definitely a good anchorage for transient boats.

3-25-22 lots of rolling with 20 knot winds. Holding great with 100 feet of chain. With the Rocna anchor best anchor EVER??

Stayed here on 5-13-21 and again on 5-24-21. Good anchorage. Anchor set first time both days and came up clean. Current is strong but holding is very good. Some wakes from ICW. Not much wind protections. Will anchor here again.
