Anchored here outside of the creek. Good holdings. Beautiful surroundings. Exposed to the West and NW. Recommend for settled weather.

Turn off the travelway to the east at Red 34a and go two miles into the Whorton Creek entrance with no less than 11 feet MLW. Turn towards the south shore and approach the anchorage icon where you will find 9 feet MLW with good holding and good protection from winds with a southerly component. Our anchor came up with clean chain and a large glob on mud and shell mixture on the achor. If anchoring in winds from the north, choose the other side of the entrance channel and anchor under the lee of the northern cliffs in similar depths. At the height of the tide there is a small current running through the anchorage that may turn your boat around in light winds. Wind protection is good except for winds from the west coming into the open entrance to the creek.

There is a small sand beach on the south shore just behind the anchorage icon where you can take fido for relief but there is really not much to go ashore for beyond that. Cell reception for AT&T and Verizon was 2 bars. T-Mobile had 4 bars of 5-G service. There is traffic in and out of the harbor but, during our stay everyone was respectful of their wakes and did not bother us at all. The anchorage is quiet and quite pretty. Although you can see the development in the inner harbor, at anchor you are surrounded by undeveloped shores. An excellent stop going to or coming from the C&D Canal.

Anchor in the cove outside the harbor a mile off the travel way towards Chesapeake City in 12' mlw water with good holding and sufficient clearance for some evening breezes. Good protection from the North through East to the South with reasonable holding for another 45 degrees to the West on both ends. Avoid or try to go inside the tight entrance with winds from the West. Okay cell service for Verizon and T-M. One bar on ATT. Did not try for shore access but there is nothing close by anyway. Mid June with a South wind and not too buggy at all.

Spent one night on hook. Peaceful, 4 sailboat neighbors. Anchored outside of Worton Creek Marina entrance for light evening breeze. One sailor had regular anchor light burning steady then for some unknown reason he turned to STROBE MODE. Most unnecessary and very annoying. Mizzen mast sail up for what? No wind,

If traveling through on a weekend, this is a less-busy option when compared to the Sassafrass. Not bucolic peacefulness, but it is safe to put your drink down. It's also fresher in summer than up the various Middle River area creeks.
