If you can get a good hook, you'll have a nice peaceful night. Our first time here, we got a solid set on the first try, the second time through, it took a couple tries. Make sure your anchor sets well. The reversing current here will test your connection to the bottom. Great spot to see stars and wildlife. Well-protected from wave action, but not wind. If you have no need to get ashore, and get a good hook, you will love this spot until the fishermen come by and wake you at first light. We enjoy this spot, but it may not be for everyone.

We typically find a 25 to 35 MLW for dropping the hook. The island has a sandy beach for pet relief which is a requirement for us with a dog. The island will provide some protection from large ship wakes but not from local fishermen or crabbers going out early in the morning. Be prepared for strong current. The attraction of this anchorage is the location about half-way between Cape May and Chesapeake City. It's the only stopping over point available near the halfway point.
