The Glimmer Glass

Depth: 5-7 ft
Description: At R2, turn north into Crabtown Creek and follow the well-marked private channel through the Glimmer Glass Bridge. This bridge is a close fit for sailboats even when open since it does not open straight up. Bear to port just past green day mark into protected basin. Stay close to northern shore and only 20' off boats in slips. Anchor near the moorings in 6'. Deep water extends about 15' past the mooring buoys to the south. Dinghy west to sandy shore by railroad tracks. In July 2015 users reported limited swing room at low tide. Cell signal available.

We were there on a Saturday evening. After reading the reviews here, we were definitely concerned, but decided to see for ourselves how it might work. It is a fantastic holding! Great shore access if you have dogs. Very pretty bridge and sunset.
What is VERY awkward for me, is it was in people's front yards. We essentially parked our boat on their lawns. It also is VERY shallow and VERY narrow (the bridge itself had our 15 ft beam and 20 ft overhead squeezing through at full open). I guess my husband and I just enjoy the challenge of these things and didn't mind.
We loved the quiet (the trains stop running frequently after about 8p and the house noise was limited) and the holding. We had one lovely night, talked to a few of the local owners and left fairly early in the morning to catch the higher tide.

Traveled up from Cape May and after 9 hours was looking forward to anchoring. Did not stay here. Too many paddleboarders and kayakers over this small area severely limiting maneuverability for us. Looked and felt too shallow although it seemed to have the stated depth. We went on a Sunday and would tell all transients to stay far away from this inlet at least on weekends. Extremely busy with locals.

Local marking on channel in really help, Glimmer Glass bridge is a slow opening bridge so call them early and be prepaired to stall while it is going up, Lot of train noise and siren/horns. Nice anchorage on way to NYC
