While tidal current tables report the current at the entrance at 2 knots, old hands know that the current across the entrance can be substantially greater.More current is experienced at the far end of the basin where a small stream enters.

Coming into the Anchorage we saw very shallow depths of 5'2" at low tide at the opening but then it opened up to 10-12 ft. Not a lot of room but can fit 5-6 boats if they're anchored right. Ease shore access and dinghy dock to the bars and restaurants. There's also a free dock on the starboard side as you enter the anchorage but it can only hold about 3 boats. Easy access across the canal to fuel/pump out etc. Beware of fast currents as you exit the anchorage.

Plenty deep enough. Saw 11-14' all around. Ferry and water taxi service available, although we used the dink to get to the city dock. Surprised at the level of noise from the bridge.

Now that its been dredged, you can anchor anywhere. You might want to avoid the area in front of the creek(where the small bridge is). There’s enough current there that you’ll go around in circles at night, coming close to the other boats that don’t move.

Although very busy on the weekends, it clears out early and is a very nice anchorage.

With the completion of dredging May 2018, the anchorage has returned as a prime stopover point for cruisers going north or south. Shore access is provided by a free dinghy dock next to town and another one at the eastern end of the anchorage. The anchorage can get crowded during peak migration time but we've never had a problem by just using short scope. Ice is available at the nearby marina and the town has several restaurants of interest along with a great ice cream shop.

Newly dredged, this anchorage can hold 15-20 boats. Were here with 9 others and it felt like it was only half full. The town is lovely. Good restaurant scene.

Newly dredged, there is room for about 15 or 20 boats. tonight there are 9 boats and the harbor is only half full. Dinghy docks at south west corner by the village and another in the NE corner at the boat ramp. Interesting USACE Museum about the C&D Canal .

The anchorage has been dredged! At the entrance, just go down the middle for 12 MLLW. Keep in the middle on the way to the anchorage area for 12 to 15 MLLW .

    • WG Editor Comment:

Dredging took place Nov 2017 to early Jan 2018.
