Sleepy place, no marina staff seen. I was a guest here on a weekend. Mikes North Restaurant is great. PUMPOUT is difficult to access, uses tokens you have to purchase at office and borrow deck fitting. The problem, pumpout is at end of dock about 6 feet wide. Tricky. Older fixed docks.

Ben was great, we pumped out and learned they are the ONLY diesel dock in the Inner Harbor. Other marinas no longer have fuel for different reasons. Also offers dock and dine options for staying at marina to eat anywhere in downtown. Great!

A few unpublished notes. Mooring field downstream of marina, $20 night includes dinghy dock & showers. Tie up to the bulkhead upstream of marina 50 cents foot, no power or water. Beware high tide range of 7 feet making dock lines tricky. Use downriver half of bulkhead for deeper water. Sometimes a cruise ship will overnight here proving deep water.

Basic Marina with great people. Listen to their instructions to enter their harbor. Best restaurant on Jersey Shore, The Lobster House. Walk through gravel parking lot early and insist on dining in the restaurant. You can wait aboard the sailboat or in the oyster bar.
Cast off early next morning for NYC or Atlantic City.

If you arrive too late to lock through use the multiple pilings called Dolphins. Pay attention this works. Tie a very long bow line to forward piling cluster, back down to aft piling cluster and tie long line to it. Then take in slack on forward line and your boat is tied between the two dolphins, no drift, drag or swing. No current or tide. Also no shoreside access.

My favorite lock. The lock masters here are the greatest. They talk you into position and hand you DRY lines to secure to your boat. If this is your first Okeechobee Lock caution, they crack open the doors to allow the water level to equalize. This could be scary on your first time. Federal park is on the west side with small fixed docks and camping. If you are in the area drive your car here to sit in the stadium style seats and watch the boats.

Excellent bridge tenders here. Westbound, radio on 9 as you near G 23 to alert them of your position so you can manage your approach with the bridge actually opening. The channel funnels tidal current through the narrow opening of the RR Bridge and car bridge making turbulent passage. Do not loiter, make sure your vessel is always making headway. Marina and mooring field immediately on west side, slow speed, no wake.

Wonderful secluded area with short dinghy ride to ocean beach. Sign says no pets on beach but everyone walks their dogs on ICW side of island. This is NOT a no wake zone so hold on tight, some people just don't know how to slow down. Most ICW traffic is near end of day so sleeping overnight is fine. The beach is worth it. Water ranges from 8 to 12 feet not shown on chart.
