This was my second stay at Oasis Fernandina Beach and this time, I stayed before the March 1 seasonal price hikes kick in. (They apparently raise their prices just in time for the Loopers coming through.) At $2.50/foot, its a little high for my budget but doable. They put me on the inside of the fuel dock, which turned out to be a good thing since they're dredging on the south side of the marina where the very long docks are. The marina has reasonably nice private restrooms with showers, a laundry facility ($2.50 for wash, $2.50 for dry), and good dock hands to help you in if you need it. The one thing Oasis Marinas do that really bugs me is giving out "welcome bags" that consist of logo tote bags with the corporate magazine and logo giveaways like a can cozy, lip balm, floating key chain, and eyeglass cleaner. (How about skipping the junk bag and giving me my 30 amp power for free?) The absolute best thing about this marina is its proximity to downtown Fernandina Beach, which has lots of really nice little shops and restaurants. You can get Uber (but maybe not Lyft; I had no luck) to various shopping for provisioning. The Atlantic Ocean Beach is a long but doable walk or bike ride due east. On my previous stay, I'd been bothered by a lot of noise coming out of some sort of industrial facility south of the marina, but it was quiet during this weekday stay. One weird thing was the arrival of an American Cruise Lines cruise ship just after dark; it loomed across the dock from me but was quiet enough. Another arrived in the morning. Apparently, they start two of their cruises from Fernandina Beach this time of year. In summary, I enjoyed this stay, which I used primarily to do laundry and shopping and visit an eye doctor. I did get time to walk around the town, which I really like. I recommend the marina, but not at their much higher in season rate.

11 8 2023 New rate is $3' Diesel available but not gas at this time. Bigger boater lounge now as small museum has been converted into boaters lounge. Good help with docking. Any W component winds would be a concern here on outside dock. We like this town. Be careful if you come in at low tide and go inside it gets shallow. Mooring are available. Dock Pump out working. Nice town with numerous eating establishments. Washrooms and showers are clean. They respond to radio, help you dock and get set up.

Wonderful Marina. We arrived after a rough passage on the Atlantic, the dock hands were super nice and helpful. Got us into a slip on the inside mid way on their long dock. It's a side tie on a really nice floating dock. The bathrooms and laundry were clean. The best part is you are right on the edge of Main Street Fernandina. There are great restaurants and cute shops everywhere. We needed a little work done on our generator while we were there. The marina recommended to us a fantastic mechanic who got us on our way in no time.

This was our second stay here. The big attraction is being right downtown. The dock is well maintained. Staff is helpful. The Staff cannot stop the local Sunday afternoon promenade as it is a public dock but it did not feel unsafe in any way but a surprise for us. We were on the outside and had a bumpy night with a southerly wind blowing 15-20 mph. It would be fine with wind from the east. The factories do run through the night

The marina is wonderful. The moorings, not so much. The pennant drooped below the ball and for the first time I remember it took two of us to pick it up. It was covered in growth and had some minor chafe. I would only use it in settled weather. For a professionally maintained marina, this is disappointing.

The docks are in very good shape, but they are very long. I was parked at the far end of E dock and had a 298-step walk (yes, I counted it) to shore. It's probably another 300 steps from there to the rest rooms, laundry room, and lounge.

The marina -- or at least my spot at the marina -- was completely unprotected from winds from the south. I came to the marina to wait out some weather, which included high winds. Although I was tied securely along the dock, the waves coming in at the back of my boat splashed against the swim platform, came over my dinghy (attached on edge with weaver davits) and soaked my swim platform, rear deck, and rear windows. The rocking motion was so bad that I could not sit at my table to read or work on my computer; I had to lie down and watch TV. My neighbors on the other side of the dock actually spent the afternoon in the lounge on land. I definitely picked the wrong place to wait out this windstorm. But it could have been worse: I could have been in the mooring field, which had whitecaps all afternoon.

Also on the minus side is the noise, which sounds like boulders rolling through a metal channel, coming from the factory just south of the marina. This goes on until after dark on weeknights; it was quiet on Saturday. I don't know what they're making at the factory, but its smokestacks never stopped smoking and my boat was covered with a fine black dust by the second day.

And there's a train that goes by a few times a day.

The marina rate had gone up from $2.50/foot/night to $3.00/foot/night the day before I arrived, so my stay cost more than $50 than I expected it to. Shore power costs extra.

On the plus side, the marina is located within walking distance of a very nice town with plenty of shops and restaurants. There was a car show on the Friday of my stay and lots of people walking around town. There's a farmer's market in town on Saturday mornings. It was nice to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh seafood, and baked goods. There's a restaurant right at the marina that offers inside and outside seating. There are a lot of tourists walking the docks during the day, especially around sunset.

The place is pet friendly and I got a lot of exercise just taking my dogs to the closest patch of grass.

Given the long docks, inadequate protection from wind and waves, and noise, I don't think this marina is worth what they're currently charging. Location near town is really the only thing it has going for it.

The restrooms are all updated and very clean. The docks are very well maintained. You are right in the heart of the beautiful downtown. The only thing is there are a couple plants nearby that do not always smell the best. This isn't their fault just something to mention. Super dog friendly as well which is a big plus in our opinion.

We anchored up Bell River and came in by dinghy. Until the marina finishes dredging I wouldn't tie up at their dinghy dock. We came back to our dinghy sitting down in the mud. Go on the E dockside. Still a great convenience.

    Business Response:
We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any miscommunication. Targeted maintenance dredging is underway, and during this time our staff has been instructed to direct boaters to please use the east side of "E" dock, and the dinghy dock only at times of the high tide. Dredging operations will continue until mid-April, after which, depth at the dinghy dock will be greatly improved. Please hail us on 16/68 for daily updates pertaining to dinghy access, as the barge moves through the marina, dinghy dockage will shift accordingly. Thank you for your patience during this time!

Second stay was not great. The positive - due to weather we were able to extend for two night (not without the "it's doubtful comments that kept us on edge until they said they could keep us). Close to downtown shopping and great bars, restaurants. The negative - three boats that were on one electrical pedestal had issues. We were showing reverse polarity and spent two nights on the dock without shore power. The other two boats had problems as well - breakers tripping and even a mild shock. The marina,s stance was "there's nothing wrong with our dock, the problem is with your boat (I'm typing this from the dock on St Simons Island hooked up to shore power with no reverse polarity). it's not my boat. The staff was not as friendly as our first visit. The three days we were there the restrooms/showers had no hot water. The WiFi was spotty at best. This marina has done better and needs to get better. Start owning your problems!

    Business Response:
We apologize for this boater's less-than-perfect stay and value their feedback. Our newly rebuilt docks are compliant with the most rigorous electrical standards dictated by the National Electric Code, and our pedestals are very sensitive to the slightest imbalance which can be caused by a variety of boat-related conditions. Hot water is limited at this time, we expect full hot water capacity to be returned by next week, until then we are kindly asking boaters to limit shower time when possible. Every effort is being made to make repairs as quickly as possible! We look forward to the opportunity to show this boater a better experience on their third stay.

We stayed here the night of 2/20/2022.

Winds were moderate out of the north and we were placed on the outside dock. The waves during docking maneuvers were such that the bow thruster on my Ranger Tug 27 was momentarily out of the water. That has never happened before. We had planned all along to be off the boat during the day and that was fortunate because the boat rocked and rolled all day. Thankfully, the wind laid down that night and we had restful night.

The floating docks are new and of top-notch construction. The shore power and water functioned as expected. Dockhands were competent and experienced. Shower facilities are a bit of a walk, but are clean and well-done. There is zero security at the docks and the public can and does stroll right by your vessel.

The town is a short walk and is full of shops and restaurants. For supper, walk a few blocks farther from the main tourist area to "Ciao", an Italian restaurant that takes reservations. Food and service were excellent.

We like this town very much with the shops, restaurants, and interesting history. The mooring balls are still $25 per night. The fuel dock is finally operational after being out of commission for years. If they put you inside it is shallow at low tide especially at the entrance. The facilities are OK but could use some improvement. The rate of $2.5' for the existing marina facilities is disappointing for what you get and how far your have to walk but the town is well worth visiting. If your put on the outside of the dock wakes and winds are sometimes a concern. At this time due to some construction the dingy dock is not available so they put you up on another dock.

Docking is along one long facedock and the dockhands are good at their job. WiFi works if you're docked close to the dockhouse, not so good if you're farther down the dock. They have fuel and pump-out but the big attraction is the town of Fernandina Beach with lots of shops and restaurants to explore. On Saturdays, there's a farmers' market for fresh goods, but there's no nearby supermarket. Disappointing. Dock crew were great but management seems short sided. We booked a month early with a group of 4 boats. We were put on end of center dock a mile away from others on inside of outer dock. We asked to be moved and were told not possible although spots remained open for the 3 nights we were there. Also Wi-fi is totally useless even standing at the dock masters office. I can not understand why they have not fixed this for many months. Restrooms out of toilet paper one morning. Horrible silting in needs attention but did not bother us but caused congestion and problems for day boats trying to stop in. Dinghy dock was high and dry at low tide.

    WG Editor Comment:
    Marina Reply:

We'd like to thank this boater for their review and for staying with Fernandina Harbor Marina. We were booked to maximum capacity throughout the entire holiday weekend, and as such we had to put vessels in slips where they may fit but other vessels could not due to length or draft requirements. This meant that not every slip request could be honored, though we always do our best to place vessels in requested areas or near their group of boaters. Additionally, what may have appeared to be empty space were spaces reserved and paid for by other boaters that were going in and out over the weekend, or space that was reserved for an upcoming reservation of a vessel of a different size. Our marina WiFi has undergone a complete upgrade this past spring, but we apologize if connectivity was not ideal for this boater during their stay. Our team does regularly check all of our facilities for cleanliness, but we apologize if we missed the mark during your stay. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back in the future to deliver an improved experience!

    ELECTRIC ISSUES:
New piers with ELCI-protected shore power. We take 2-30 amp cables via 50 amp splitter. After about 20 hours connected the shore breaker tripped. This has NEVER happened at the MANY other ELCI breakers we have used up and down the coast. Interestingly, at the trip and subsequent unsuccessful attempts, our REVERSE POLARITY LED'S were lit. Again, never before happened. An adjacent boat complained about trip after 3 1/2 successful hours.
It was unusual that the 50 amp 240volt SHORE ELCI when tripped, only interrupted ONE 120v LEG of the supply. The other 120v leg continued supply. It is my understanding that a normal 50 amp 240v ELCI should have interrupted both legs.
A Marina dockhand commented that there have been a multitude of reverse polarity and nuisance trips. Boats up and down the pier were running generators.

The new docks are great, easy access to downtown. There is a shuttle for $1 that will take you around for stops at Publix and some other places which boaters can use. Facilities were in great shape. Dock hands were very good and friendly. We did have issues with the Wifi, cell coverage was great, so we used our hotspot. Good history, worth walking around town, for restaurants and old homes.

Great destination. Excellent new floating docks, really the best I have seen. Dock master called me in advance of arrival to work out docking instructions. Dockhands met us and helped get us into position, and hooked up shore power. Accommodated a late departure due to weather. Still no fuel as of 4/11/21, but looks really close to being ready. Only complaint is the non-functional WiFi internet. Not a question of signal strength. For part of the time we were there, we could see the WiFi signal, but couldn’t connect. Other times, no WiFi signal at all. I asked several times and was told that it was intermittent, but it never worked. Neighbors also could not connect. This is such a great facility, why can’t this get fixed?

The docks are fantastic, new and solid. If you can get on the inside to shield from wakes.

There is a saw mill to south and paper mill to north (smell and noise), also train tracks just to east (quite down at sun set)

    Town is great.

The marina staff was accommodating and well prepared. Jonah was available whenever we needed assistance. The marina is nearly new and well protected. We didn't feel the waves on the inside of the face dock. The town is directly across the street. It's adorable and attractive with an abundance of shops and restaurants. It was very clean and well maintained. It made up for the nearby industry that was overshadowing the beauty and tranquility of the area. We will definitely stop here again and probably try the mooring field next visit.

The marina moorings were open with quite a few available in late December, 2020. We got a mooring for one night & anchored north of the mooring field for several more days. The anchorage had great holding, we were able to ride out 45 knot winds from the west and didn't budge.
Although the fuel dock was not yet open (should be open by February 2021) we were able to get a pump out and fill the water tanks. The dock hands were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The marina facilities (laundry and showers) are clean and pleasant and are included with the rental of a mooring ball. They also permit you to use their address to have mail delivered and were nice enough to bring our mail down from the office to us while we were filling the water tanks. The dinghy dock provided quick and easy access to down town. There was no Uber or Lyft services in Fernandina but we were able to get a reasonably priced taxi to and from the fort (Jason P. Sears/Lifestyle's Executive Transportation 904-335-0863). There are a lot of options as far as restaurants and bars and quite a few have very good live music which we always enjoy.
There is an Enterprise rental car that will pick you up and a small hardware store in walking distance from the dinghy dock.

Really nice harbor and town. Friendly staff, nice facilities, tons of restaurants nearby, overall great. We tied up on an inside dock and with 5.5 draft grounded on the way out in low tide (huge tidal flow there) but TowUS pulled us out and they were going to get that spot dredged.

Great restaurants, hardware store two blocks away, very friendly, kind and warm people in the area. Would go back.

Pretty unusual place. They still do not have fuel on their beautiful new docks. Pump out is available. If you are put on the face dock make sure the wind isn't strong out of North, West or South. It really kicks up and there are constant boat wakes too. We popped an Aere inflatable fender when a Viking when by. There is no usable wifi. As of February 25, 2020, the marina moorings are still not open. There are several derelict moorings here, however, making anchoring challenging. There is room NW of the mooring field for a few boats to anchor. The shallow area south of the mooring field has several small local boats on private moorings/permanent anchors.

The dinghy dock at the marina is now open for $4/day.

Another anchorage option is north of the factory/paper mill, north of the ICW channel between R14 and R16. Use the Army Corp survey charts to find your way in between the two shallow spots, no less than 10'MLW. Good holding and wind protection from the south. No wake protection and strong current.

Fernandina Harbor Marina is back in full operation with two exceptions: fuel is still not available, and the mooring field is unavailable. Work is on-going. The marina has a large dinghy/day dock on the south side now, dinghy dockage for anchored boats is $4/day. The brand new floating transient docks on the south side have a new layout that is perhaps more forgiving in the current...all slips are side-to. It still pays to arrive at slack current, of course. The town is as wonderful as it has always been and having the marina back is great news for the Waterway.

Although this marina suffered major hurricane damage in 2016, it is still open for business, albeit on a limited basis. Call to reserve one of their four lay-along docks or pick up a mooring ball and go enjoy this interesting, historic town. It has more great restaurants within walking distance of the marina than any town north of Miami! The Island Hopper Shuttle will take you to get provisions, do your banking, or even drop you off at the movies for only a buck! The marina staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

The area is surrounded by loud industry that runs all night. Smells awful with a Southerly breeze. I believe it's a paper mill. Mooring field has scattered sunken/grounded boats. Beware of the wind vs current, the hard plastic mooring ball will bang against the hull for hours. Recommend dropping an anchor or finding a different location.

Like St. Augustine, the Corps hasn't seen fit to post a minimum wake zone, but the Sheriff enforces an unposted no wake zone from marker 10 to 14. He actually told a slow moving catamaran with just a ripple to slow down!
