SAFETY WARNING: Riding Rocks Marina in San Salvador is very very unsafe in a surge (which happened to us twice)
They do not answer the phone. They do not answer a radio call (when we did check in we found they only listen to Channel 6). We came in before the last blow and were warned by fishermen to leave quickly before the westerly blow or we would snap ropes and break pilings so we did. We came back as there was no westerly, but the surge was still bad from the wrap around waves coming from the north. My husband and myself attempted to tie up all by ourselves (no dock hands or Harbour master to be found) and the surge is awful, stressing our lines terribly and the docks and pilings are moving with our boat's weight. We did have extra lines as needed and they were deployed, as well as all our fenders. We destroyed 3 of our lines due to Chaffing. Thank goodness my husband double tied most lines. We left when the sun rose. I hear it can be nice in perfect seas but that was not our case both times trying.

This is a small marina with few amenities but is close to fishing and diving. The entrance is tricky getting in follow the map guidance getting in. I would recommend timing your entrance with a high tide if possible. The marina can have some surge so make sure you have good bumpers and ropes to tie up. It was difficult getting ahold of the marina had to call several time to reach someone. Once we arrived I could not get anyone on the radio so we entered and were instructed by someone on land to just pick a spot.
