Nice marina and super friendly staff. Easy to book over the phone. Follow their directions to exit the main channel and approach the harbor. Easy entry after that and 5 feet of water everywhere we went. Clean bathrooms and showers, water, electric, fuel, and ships store. Very isolated and quiet; we like that, but its a long way to town.

I bought a boat that was then lying at Port Charles Habor, and kept her there over the winter while they did some maintenance work I needed and I waited for warmer weather.

I spent a couple of days living aboard in the marina getting ready to move the boat south.

Lots of good things to say about Port Charles Harbor.

The maintenance / repair guys did good work. They communicate well, and the pre-work estimates were spot on. When it turned out the boat had about 17 layers of bottom paint instead of the expected 3 or 4, they called me to discuss the extra cost and the time needed.

They recently switched the wifi over to being fed by Starlink. So wifi was good, of course I was there in February when basically no one was in the Marina.

Docks are in good repair. Water and power at the dock. Water to the dock turned off over the winter, of course.

Showers/restroom in the building that houses the office and parts department. Shower and restroom were clean, and there was plenty of hot water.

Diesel & gas are both available.

Because I was headed out in late Feb, they called me in advance and asked how much diesel I was going to need, to make sure they had enough on hand.

Kind of a drive into town for grocery stores, HomeDepot, Target or U-Haul (for propane tank refills). About 20 minutes. I had a rent car and took Lyft back to the marina after I turned the car in.

In Feb 2023, the marina reports having a courtesy car, which I did not use.

Not a fancy place, but seems well managed with competent repairs at reasonable prices.

Great place to get work done. Tech was on the boat within a couple of hours and parts ordered immediately. Installed as soon as they arrived. The approach to the marina can be tricky, watch your chart. Isolated location, but the yacht club next door has a good restaurant and the marina courtesy car will get you to St Charles, 10 miles away. The historic downtown is well worth a visit.

This marina and service center has the capability and staff to make any repairs or updates to your boat. Six days ago we were in the Mel Price lock when we struck a submerged log, HARD. Our starboard engine stalled, and we were taking on a bit of water. We called the Alton Marina as we had just been there and fueled up for the next leg of our journey south. They were unable to help us themselves but did refer us to the Port Charles Harbor Marina. We called, they immediately sent a towboat to come the 18 miles downstream, then tow us back upstream, against the strong Mississippi current. The marina staff were there waiting for us with their lift ready to take us out of the water when we arrived, (This was 4:30 in the afternoon, on a Sunday)! They made sure we were secure, inspected the damage and allowed us to stay on our boat while they made all the necessary repairs. We had a few days to kill so we went about various chores and cleaning up our boat. The marina staff were very helpful with this too, as they offered their wisdom, extension cords, ladders, etc. We borrowed the marina's courtesy car twice to go into St. Charles for supplies. We highly recommend making use of this marina, you'll understand why once you have.

We wish it were possible to choose more than five stars..

October 29th, 2018: Great alternative to Alton marina due to fast flood currents sucking water out of Alton marina. Four Loopers pulled into Port Charles Harbor marina at the same time and marina staff directed us to our slips and coordinated taking turns at their fuel dock for fueling and pumpouts. Only one vessel at a time could be at fuel dock because their dredge barge was on other side. Diesel fuel price was $3.46 same price as Hoppies. Watch entry and exit for debris coming fast with current and give a little throttle to get in/out safely as you make the turn into/out of marina entrance
