We ran from Hurricane Isaias here in 2020. We killed time floating in the James River until high tide so we could make it into the channel with our 5.5' draft. We made it with no problems. We were probably the biggest boat they've ever seen in that marina, but we tied up to the bulkhead behind the cottages and rode out the storm. The restaurant was delicious and really dulled the pain of having to hunker down for the better part of the week. Would absolutely recommend it, but call ahead if you're a larger vessel. They *might* have room for 2-3 big boats at their bulkhead dock.
