This is a difficult "marina" to evaluate. R.E. Mayo Seafood allows boats to tie up to their dock - away from their shrimp boats. We moored on the south dock. There are three 30 Amp outlets (one is used by a boat that seems to always be there). The outlets look rough, but they work. There are several 15 Amp outlets. The south dock is not as "rough" as the north dock. The restrooms are in the ships store, and are only available when the store is open. The store has Snacks, some groceries, tee/sweat shirts, a good selection of parts for boats, and frozen shrimp, scallops and flounder. The cost is $0.40 per foot, and the electricity is free. There are no showers. As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for." We stayed 5 nights due to strong winds and bad weather. We were glad to be tied up to a solid dock!! Miss Betty, at the front counter, was very nice and helpful. The shrimp were great!!

Unique! It's a bit confusing where to actually dock, but here's what we discovered: There are 2 docks. The southern dock has both 110 outlets and 30a. The northern dock has only 110, and some of the outlets didn't work or had burn marks. If you use the north dock, you need to go all the way to the southern end of it to stay away from the shrimpers. Dockage for the night plus a pound of shrimp came to $24, which made me feel like I was robbing them! It was interesting to watch the barges running right past us. Very buggy and nothing to walk to. No bathrooms. But we loved it!

Amazing 40 cents per foot with electric, really nice people. If you do not spend the night stop and buy the seafood, really good prices and not only shrimp, lots of fish.

Stayed here night of 5-6-23. Old wooden fixed docks, owner was cordial when making reservations on the phone, no shore power, did not look for water, price was $0.40 per foot, why hook.

Found this spot on the recommendation of the Here's To Us. It is a bare bones stop with a long layalong dock with pilings on the southern end. No 50 Amp power but with a .40 cent per foot price Iwas satisfied. We just spent a long windy run on the Neuse River. Very friendly staff and there was fresh sea food for sale and snacks and drinks for sale in the office. The river was super quiet through the night with no wind. Passing boats were considerate with no wakes.

When you are paying close to nothing, your expectations should not be champagne and caviar or even hotdogs and beer. They should be more like cheese and crackers, but here you can buy shrimp for dimes on the dollar as well. This is a good stop. The power is not intended to keep your air conditioner running—it's there to keep your battery charger running. It is what it is. A solid dock to tie to where you may very well need one. This is a good stop.

We were in need of a fresh water fill up. The staff allowed us to just pop in and fill our tanks for free. So nice of them!
We purchased a bag of ice and profusely thanked them for their kindness. Then we were back on the AICW and headed toward our next anchorage in about 30 minutes.

I stopped here for the experience of docking at a working seafood business, not expecting much and receiving even less. The power was supplied by household type duplex receptacles, but no problem, I've used them before and have an adapter. I'd have to switch the single connection from the box to the boat depending on what power we would use, because we have (2) 30A inputs, but I've done that before also. What I had not done before was to try to get a good electrical connection in a receptacle which had shown signs of being burned and which was mounted loosely in a very flimsy bendable plastic electric box which was secured (?) to the wood post by only one side and the other side was free to wiggle however it wished. It was impossible to get a continuous electrical connection, and probably unsafe as well. I would have been ok with this location, not having expected much from the reviews and descriptions, if I'd been able to get continuous power, with solid metal boxes and secure receptacles, even with the adapter and switching the inputs, but I cast off and moved on within about 15 minutes of arriving. They also had NO fresh seafood.

What a great unique stop over. I agree with everything Robert said on the last review about the seafood. The people here are super, but there is no help docking. I docked on the north docks just south of the main office. If you look at the satellite shot of this place you will see a boat ramp south of the buildings, there are docs south of the boat ramp in North of the boat ramp. There was electricity, but it was 110 V, household plug. There may be 30 amp on the south docks, and by South Docks, I mean south of the boat ramp, but there were quite a few locals fishing and crabbing off of those docs, so it was a little more private being just a little north of the boat ramp. The restrooms are inside the seafood and Marine supply store, and are only open business hours 8am-5pm. The Wi-Fi worked fine.16-25 count frozen shrimp were $10.50/#. By the way all the Shrimp here will be frozen as their fishing boats flash freeze right after they are caught. This is according to Mark, one of the guys that works at the seafood market.

RE Mayo is a great place to get frozen seafood for stocking your freezer. They have local shrimp, scallops, and flounder in vacuum blister packs. They also have non-local fish and on some days, fresh shrimp. We always stop here to reload our freezer. The docks are not for the faint of heart - they are in various stages of disrepair but they are sturdy since they service 60 ft shrimp boats. The 30 amp electric service may or may not be operational and there're no bathrooms or showers but then it's only $0.30/ft! The WiFi is operational which is good since the Verizon signal is very poor. They have an outstanding marine hardware store although it's aimed at the 60 ft shrimp boat crowd. If you dock close to the office, lay your fenders vertically. If you dock at the southern docks, lay them horizontally. You will usually not get help docking, you're on your own.

What a great find! Never judge a book by its cover or dockage by its name! You can't get shrimp any fresher than if you caught it yourself and the price is amazing; not just the shrimp or scallops or fish or…., but the dockage as well!

MM 157 R.E. Mayo Seafood. Looks like a rough commercial seafood processing plant with a couple of fish and shrimp trawlers. It is. However, they have first come first served docking at the lower south end, about 4 - 6 boats depending on size and a couple of spots at the north end, just don't dock anywhere around building where they fuel and the large commercial trawlers come in to dock. There are some 30 amp electric and some 20 amp outlets scattered about and we usually just take what we can get. No easy drinking water hose hookup.
When docking, be careful as the rustic docks have shards and hardware sticking out. Fender well after docking as inconsiderate cruisers will occasionally rock you. Dirt cheap! Under 50 cents per foot and that includes Wi-Fi. No bathrooms or showers, just an old fashion outhouse. Just walk inside the shop and pay. They have an extensive supply of commercial fishing stuff and parts and filters as well as fresh and fresh frozen seafood for sale. Depending on season, often you can buy fresh shrimp or fish right off the dock before it's processed. Cool T shirts. We have stayed here numerous times and note that Mrs. Potter, the owner, has made dock improvements with overlaying concrete sections over the old.

I just love this place! It's a "Bubba Gump" place to spend your time. It is the only place on the ICW that I've stayed where the souvenir tee shirt cost more than the mooring. Cheap fuel, great commercial marine store, and amazing seafood. It's no five star resort, its a working shrimp dock and that is part of it's charm. It is always one of my planned stops, both north bound and southbound. There is a decent current that runs, so it helps to get yourself situated and use the current instead of having the current use you! I single hand with my dog, who is useless as a line handler, so it did take me two attempts to get my boat tied up, but to paint was harmed in the attempts.

Fixed docks with 15 amp power. $.40 per foot, very reasonable. Outhouses only. Good flash frozen seafood selection and commercial style chandlery. Nice people, a really fun lowland stop! Only two bars of cell coverage on Verizon. Don’t miss this even for just a day stop!

Best stop to stock up on crazy fresh seafood on the ICW. Should be on everyone’s list on the way by. Great people, shrimp and fish just off the boat, really a cool place to check out a working fish store. Don’t miss it! Certainly not a destination marina for an overnight, but gives you a safe tie up and a great price if you need it.

The marina is a working shrimp dock and the facilities are raw. The dock is substantial but you have to be careful in stepping due to stuff on the docks. The attraction is the low price of $0.40/ft and the great protection from wind and waves (you won't notice any at the docks). There is only one 30A outlet and if any more boats tried to use the 20A with a converter, then no one has electricity. They have a great marine supply store and a large selection of flash frozen seafood (shrimp, scallops, and flounder). There are no baths or restrooms unless you count the two outhouses gaily decorated out front.

We use the stop because it's convenient, cheap, protected, and a good place to stock up on seafood for your freezer.

This is a commercial fish dock. The price is right. If you are making 7 knots and hit this spot at 5 pm, you are aware that there are not a lot of choices and are glad this dock has space.

If it it blowing 55, you won't notice ( at least I didn't) - very protected.

Folks are very friendly. The store is sort of cross between New Bedford Ship Supply and West Marine without the bathing suits. Then there is the fish.

Drawbacks: This is a commercial wharf. Forget the electricity. Outlets dead or had bad ground. No heads. No Wifi, no Verizon service, no AT&T service
