- Description:
Update: 9.4 MLLW as of 4/27/2023 on the Bob423 track
The buoys are often off-station in this area due to heavy seas. Just follow the route shown. There is no need to honor R32, a shoal is moving every year closer to it from the east. The route shown is safer than the NOAA recommended track - not as close to waves coming over the shoal area.
There is also a GPX route available (see GPX Routes for BStAnd). If you wish, you can enter the waypoints manually. The numbered waypoints on the chart correspond to the waypoints listed below. The 8/26/2022 USACE survey is shown with both the GPX route (red solid line) and the Bob423 track (blue dotted line)
WP1 N30° 59.846 W081° 24.890
WP2 N30° 59.569 W081° 24.462
WP3 N30° 59.447 W081° 24.356
WP4 N30° 59.324 W081° 24.357
WP5 N30° 59.137 W081° 24.612An alternate route is shown below for 6 MLLW which can be taken when heavy seas are running at R32. A GPX route is available (see GPX Routes for BStAndAlt121222) shown as a solid red line with numbered waypoints from 1 to 15. The alternate route is based on tracks by two different boaters that I analyzed and allowed for wind and NOAA tides to arrive at the 6 MLLW minimum depth. Two additional boaters have since taken the same alternate route with similar depth readings.
