New York Canals hours of operation change September 13

Mariners are advised of the following important dates:

Wednesday, September 13th – The last day of 10 PM closing for specifically designated late locks & lift bridges (see http://www.canals.ny.gov/boating/hours.html for a listing of these structures).  After September 13th, all locks and lift bridges will operate from 7 AM to 5 PM.

Wednesday, October 11th – The last day of the official Navigation Season on the New York State Canal System.  After this date, only vessels which have obtained commercial permits and work permits may pass through canal structures.

Tuesday, October 31st – The last day commercially permitted vessels may pass through canal structures on the Erie Canal, Oswego Canal, and Cayuga-Seneca Canal.

Thursday, November 30th – The last day commercially permitted vessels may pass through canal structures on the Champlain Canal.
