Waterway Guide’s classic Trumpy yacht will be on display at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum June 18-20 in St. Michaels, MD for the 33rd annual Antique and Classic Boat Festival and the Arts at Navy Point.
The Antique and Classic Boat Society’s Chesapeake Bay Chapter hosts the traditional Father’s Day weekend event with some of the area’s finest classic boats, nautical and maritime treasures, and entertainment on site at the waterfront festival.
ADONIA is a 60 foot 1947 Trumpy Diesel Cruiser built in the houseboat style of the venerable yacht designer and builder, John Trumpy and Sons. Launched the same year that Waterway Guide was founded, the vessel conveys a sense of nostalgia and expert construction that Trumpy yachts are known for worldwide.
On a Chesapeake Bay cruising campaign for the summer of 2021, editor-in-chief Ed Tillett, says, “We are fortunate to have such an endearing vessel to show the history and splendor of mid-20th century yachting. ADONIA is contract #330 from the Trumpy line and represents one of the last of his vessels built in Gloucester City, NJ before moving to Annapolis, MD. From that date forward Chesapeake Bay had bragging rights to being home to one of the nation’s finest designers and craftsmen. We are pleased to show her off as part of our company’s mission to celebrate America’s waterways and nautical heritage.”
The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is dedicated to preserving and exploring the history, environment, and culture of the entire Chesapeake Bay region, and making this resource available to all. The campus and exhibits are recognized for dedication to preservation and enhancement of the collections and facilities, and support of the volunteers and staff who make CBMM the rich enterprise it is.
