Editor's Note: Waterway Guide has teamed with Scuttlebutt to provide important data in their app that includes Navigation Alerts, Bridge details, Marinas, Free Dockage, Anchorages and Locks. The data is presented throughout their Points of Interest map and is available for the regions that Waterway Guide covers in the U.S, Bahamas and Cuba, as well as marina listings worldwide. President of Waterway Guide, Graham Jones, says, "We have always appreciated the work of the Scuttlebutt team and are pleased to work with them in providing this information to their subscribers."

Toledo, OH – Scuttlebutt®, the first, free social media platform designed specifically for the boating community, has expanded its functionality to give boaters access to more tools. These tools will allow Scuttlebutt boaters to have a one-stop application that serves all their boating experience needs, from social sharing to trip planning to continuing education.

New and current users of Scuttlebutt have the ability to enjoy new feeds to assist with trip planning from NOAA chart data; route plotting software from Savvy Navvy; and Points of Interest from Waterway Guide showcasing marinas, yacht clubs, bridges, and anchorage information. In addition, Scuttlebutt now offers "Social Groups," which can be either public or private, to allow users to channel their feed. Marine businesses can post on their own content channels by creating a business page. Scuttlebutt users can take advantage of free offers like a free Boat Fix telematics device to remotely monitor their vessel, 10% off a boat history report from Boat History Report, free online magazine subscriptions, and a limited number of free BoatUS memberships just for being part of the Scuttlebutt community.

"From day one, our goal for Scuttlebutt was to provide a valuable resource for boaters to connect all of their online boating communications," said Erik Kyle, creator, Scuttlebutt. "We are consistently working with our partners to enhance the functionality of the platform and give members of our community the tools in one place to have the best on-the-water experience possible. Currently we have over 6,500 subscribers and are growing. We will continue to evolve the program to meet the dynamic communication desires of our boating community."

The easy-to-install and use Scuttlebutt app allows boaters to find new friends and connect with other like-minded fishing, power, and sail boaters. Putting all the information a boater needs in the palm of their hands, Scuttlebutt eliminates the need for multiple, independent, and sometimes redundant mobile tools while incorporating the sharing capabilities of other popular social media platforms. Mariners can post their content, images, and video to share their love of boating with other like-minded mariners. The app includes a map function with wind and precipitation overlays and can tap into live weather buoy information, including wave heights, wind gusts, humidity, and water temperature.

The new Scuttlebutt app is available as a free download from Google Play for Android devices and the Apple App Store for iPhone. To learn how the app works, click here. For more information on Scuttlebutt, please visit scuttlebutt.com.

About Scuttlebutt:
Erik and Melanie Kyle started Scuttlebutt because of their love of the boating community. They enjoy the connection and comradery they feel with other boaters and truly love sharing their trips on the water with family and friends. The Kyles felt that having to use Facebook and other social programs, as well as a navigation app, a fishing app and a weather app was tedious. Drawing from over 30 years of experience in the marine industry as the publishers of the Great Lakes Scuttlebutt magazine, they worked with an app developer to build Scuttlebutt over the past year to create the perfect tool to simplify their boating lifestyle. Now they look to share that tool with the entire boating community.
