Waterway Guide and US Sailing Partnership
Last month we announced a partnership with US Sailing. This partnership is a joint effort to provide Waterway Guide’s boating tools and resources to those programs and individuals, who are involved with US Sailing’s educational programming. Collectively, we felt that making these resources easily available to more boaters, new and experienced, would reward those who want to learn through education and promote the importance of an informed and knowledgeable captain.
This really opened our eyes to the importance of education in boating. We know the boating experience differs so greatly with each individual. Some prefer power, some sail, some prefer to cruise just on the weekend, others make a lifestyle out of it. No matter what you prefer, we always stress that it is all YOUR experience and it’s never safe to assume that all boaters do it for the same reasons or think alike.
But there is always room for learning more. So for those who have been considering learning a new style of boating, or thinking about going farther, but aren’t sure where to begin… US Sailing offers a number of specific educational classes for all types of boaters, beginner or veteran, sail or power, to get you started.
From the beginner to the experienced sailor, US Sailing offers courses for all levels through their national network of accredited schools. Courses include:
• BASIC KEELBOAT
• BASIC CRUISING
• BAREBOAT CRUISING
• COASTAL PASSAGE MAKING
• COASTAL NAVIGATION
• PERFORMANCE SAILING
• OFFSHORE PASSAGE MAKING
• CRUISING CATAMARAN
• CELESTIAL NAVIGATION
• CRUISING POWERBOAT
You can also “test the waters” by taking their Basic Keelboat Online course (www.sailingcourse.com), which is designed to provide you the necessary knowledge to be more comfortable when you hit the water.
US Sailing offers many great educational opportunities for boaters of all ages to learn and gain confidence in any area of boating. This type of promotion of the industry and making the learning process easier and accessible to those who aren’t sure “how” is exactly why we are proud to partner with US Sailing.
