In Beaufort, the town is the culture and its seascape the canvas. For a change of scenery, take the dinghy to Rachel Carson Reserve for hiking and a chance to see a variety of wildlife and bird species including wild horses. Or take island Express Ferry Service (252-728-7433) to Cape Lookout or Shackleford Banks.
