Old Teakettle Creek - Shellbluff Creek
- Location: Old Teakettle Creek
- Mile Marker: Mile 644
- Lat / Lon: N 31° 28.517' / W 081° 20.100'
- Depth: 8-10 Feet
- Description:
This is an unsafe anchorage due to the shrimping fleet operating out of Valona. The shrimp boats came and go at all hours and often have their outriggers down increasing their beam up to 120' or more which consumes the narrow channel. Some of these guys aren't exactly known for being sober all the time, not worth losing your rig to an uninsured bubba. Source: I live in and sail out of Valona. Submitted by Patrick Hagan.
NOTE: PER GA HB 833 DO NOT ANCHOR WITHIN 150 FEET OF A MARINE STRUCTURE SUCH AS A PRIVATE DOCK OR 300 FEET OF A MARINA, OR WITHIN 500 FEET OF APPROVED COMMERCIAL SHELLFISH GROWING AREAS.
