First I would like to say that I think the email alerts provided by Waterway Guide are invaluable - a long way from my earliest ICW travels when you found out a bridge was stuck as you arrived there. I have a 42' single engine trawler "Transition" and have been making annual winter jaunts to the Bahamas, but no matter how late I leave (March, April) the weather has continued to suck ... so, a new plan for next year. I am going to launch from here in Jacksonville mid-March leaving around April 1 for a 6 month cruise up the east coast to my old home Long Island, and beyond. I am looking into clearances on the Champlain Canal and may have issues ... max is 17' and over 15' requires special treatment ... I might be more like 18'. No worries, there is a lot of coastline in Maine to explore. Anyway, I might be interested in crew or other boats sojourning north next spring/summer. I've run the ICW many times, but always dashing from NY to Florida and back - this will be an opportunity to slow down (save fuel) and check out many of the harbors and inlets along the way.
